I would of suggested to avoid the use of blood and clichés altogether. But since this is a trollpasta, I think the blood fits. I guess that's enough from me, good luck with things Adam!

Good luck on that quest, Adam!

 

With that said, any advice on making Zelda 1-style dungeons? The last time I made a quest based on that style, the quest was a disaster. Most of the dungeons were either: too linear, confusing, challenging and/or boring. I want to avoid a repeat with a quest I'm making to sharpen my ZC skills.

 

I didn't make too much progress on said testing quest today. However, I can make it work if I make the dungeons less linear than my 5th quest entry a couple years ago.

Good luck on the trollpasta quest Adam! I'd probably write up a creepypasta for it too if I get a chance to  :P

 

Either way, began picking up AR3 again. I was supposed to beta test more stuff, but I really want to get some work on Skull Dungeon done for now.

Suggestion: Buff Wallmasters' HP and speed and give them infinite range (no fixed distance in enemy editor) for extra scaryiness.

So yeah, thank you FireSeraphim for the sprites! Just like in Adam's Quest II, the 3rd "sword" is actually a battle axe and like in AQII, I gave it a custom sword beam, thanks to converting the beam sprites to 8-bit color. I wanted the axe to be in C-Set 9 but for some weird reason, it went from gray in the editor to blue when in the overworld. Going into dungeons however, it would become gray again. So I decided on a more gold/bronze color from CSet 6 instead. Also, the level 1 sword has been changed to a bone club. Again, credits to FireSeraphim for the sprites for the bone. Now if you'll excuse me, I think I have a bone to pick with some enemies from Adam's Quest Redux's start up to the end of the Abandoned Armoury where the White Sword lies. Hehe.

 

Speaking of AQR, I plan to finish off the ruins soon and add one final dungeon before rolling out a demo (maybe). Taking into consideration what Evan20k told me, I'm going to have the Blue Ring/Tunic be in a mini-dungeon that will require the item from level 3 to access. Not sure on the shape or design yet, but it will be the first remake exclusive dungeons. No more grinding to 350 Rupees painfully and being forced to get the Small Wallet from Red/Blue Darknuts you're not ready to fight yet. Speaking of which, I probably should up a couple of prices since while testing, I was constantly swimming in Rupees. Alternatively, I guess I could decrease the frequency of Rupee drops, but then again, I want to accommodate for players needing to buy potions to help them out, so yeah.

 

EDIT: Found out why I had the CSet error. In Koten, CSet 9 is blue when you make it into 8-bit color where the sprite palette CSet 9 is gray. This explains why on the overworld, the axe was blue but in dungeons it turned gray. Of course, I could have just changed the colors around, but meh.

Finally released stdCombos.zh into script database. Zoria`s server keeps failing last days, so I had to find a more stable way to share this library.

Whelp, got the level 3 area finally made. Still a few things I want to change, but I think it's acceptable for now. With that being said, I need to test it out to make sure everything works okay then it's on to the mini-dungeon and finally a demo. I'll probably draw out the dungeon soon and get a feel for how I want it to look. So yeah, finally buckled down to work on AQR. Also, comparing and contrasting the original map design to the remake's design, I realized just how lazy I used to be and how ungodly UGLY the original was. Let's not forget...THERE WERE NO SHORTCUTS IN THE ORIGINAL*. None. Here, I added two; one to conveniently access a fairy pond and basic potion shop and another as a convenient shortcut directly to level 3. A small downside is that I kind of reduced the enemy variety down to just Red/Blue Scorpions (Red/Blue Leevers) for now, but meh. Maybe I'll throw in some other enemies to make it less boring.

 

*In addition, the original required you to go through some Armos mazes and the path was long and winding. Many enemies also had little purpose, and I threw waaaaaaaay too much free money at you. Then I made the ingenious design to REQUIRE you to defeat Blue Darknuts with a White Sword and 5-6 hearts for a wallet just so you could hold enough to eventually BUY a Blue Ring. Unbalanced much? Oh, and there were two other upgrades in addition to a 350 Rupee ring; a Magical Boomerang and Magical Shield for 150 and 100 respectively (or maybe the other way around, I don't remember).

Finished testing AQR in full up through level 3 and other than a couple minor tile errors, I think it's ready. All I need to do is make the last mini-dungeon for now. Also took a screenshot of what a 100% completion of the demo would look like.

 

In other news:

-Changed a few enemy colors around.

-Changed CSet 11 to actually be gray.

-Made the Battle Axe weapon be CSet 11 instead of CSet 6 (which in Koten, half of it is green/blue and the other half yellow/brown).

-Made a few of the harder rooms in level 3 a bit more fair.

-Reticulated splines.

-Removed Herobrine.

 

Tomorrow night I will begin on the mini-dungeon. I don't know about the shape or if I should even have a shape and just make it look completely random.

I sadly haven't been doing anything in AR3, mostly due to exam preparation for GCSEs, but I've been thinking about my post game dungeon again.

 

A while ago, a lot of people chose the song "Polargeist" (song here) to be the post game dungeon's theme. After listening around to more songs recently, I'm considering to change the song again... this won't mean that the one poll I had a while ago would be useless though, since I have alternative plans for that song. Instead, the post game dungeon's song will probably be changed to another awesome song I found from the game Geometry Dash, called "Hexagon Force" (song here).

 

So... now that I have two songs I really want to be used in AR3, I may consider adding yet another bonus dungeon in the quest, alongside the post game one in order to make use of both of these songs. And that's about it for today lol

 

tl;dr Today's all music.

 

I'll probably get on with Level 4 soon-ish...
