Antivirus software occasionally thinks FileSmelt is dangerous because it's been used to host malware at least once. Mainly an issue with Norton, I think. They've whitelisted it now, but people still get warnings.
I'd rather point to Shardstorm, but its links don't work at the moment...

Edit: c-a-d copied them to zeldaclassic.com. I changed the links in the first post.

I would like to see a full list of changes made in ZC 2.5.1 RC1 since ZC 2.5 release.

Many of them are in AGN's Bug Forums.

Firstly, thanks a bunch for all the work you all do on this!

Anyhow, I haven't done much in this yet, but I'll mess around and see if anything breaks tomorrow. But a list of what has been changed/fixed would be helpful as I'm not positive what to experiment with.

I heard there was a change with the Hammer with something? Is it just how it triggers secret flags or is it something else? I checked it with the cheat to show hitboxes and the hitboxes still seem to be identical as the previous version. Also, um why does it reach farther right than left anyway? This is something that has puzzled me for awhile. I kinda understand the perspective thing with it reaching farther down than up, but why farther right than left? I'd like to see left extended to match. but probably only me that cares.

Is the bug in which all non-control-mapped keys stop responding after a while corrected in this version?

Also does ZC sometimes get all glitched out and stop redrawing itself after sitting idle for a while like 2.50?

Windows
Mac
Linux

Mostly bugfixes, but there are a few other changes.

On Windows and Linux, ZC now allows only one instance at a time (ideally, this should be the case on Mac, too, but I haven't gotten it working yet). As far as I know, this works correctly, but it's only been tested on a couple of platforms. If ZC simply refuses to start and doesn't even write anything to allegro.log, it's possible there's a problem related to this.

ZQuest now has a page for compatibility rules. These rules are set automatically on quests made in older versions. The new dialog is meant to be used only to view and disable these rules. No effort has been made to ensure that they work as expected if enabled manually, and, if they do, there's no guarantee that they will still work in future versions.

The MIDI patch fix on Windows is now disabled by default. To enable it, set midi_patch_fix=1 under [zeldadx] in ag.cfg.

There's also a save indicator available now. Toggle it via Settings -> Save Indicator.

I don't expect this to be in RC for long. There's not much I'm worried about having broken and not much more that needs done.

Dammit saffith, why you go and make me jizz my pants this early in the morning for! >_<

Nah just kidding, I'm eternally greatful. Allow me to be the first to say thank you Gleeok and Saffith for your dedication and hardwork.

Just curious but how's the repository coming along. I recall DD saying they would be released at the same time, but I could be wrong.

Slightly OT from the thread, but are there still plans to open source ZC?  Haven't heard anything about that in a few months, and didn't know if it was a "real thing" that was actively being worked on, or just an idea that never really took off.

I added a list of changes to the first post.

I heard there was a change with the Hammer with something? Is it just how it triggers secret flags or is it something else? I checked it with the cheat to show hitboxes and the hitboxes still seem to be identical as the previous version.

It was shifted by one pixel when facing updward, which allows it to reach the next half-tile .

Also, um why does it reach farther right than left anyway?

Does it? Never noticed. I'll look at that.

Is the bug in which all non-control-mapped keys stop responding after a while corrected in this version?

Maybe. I tried, but it's hard to confirm.

Also does ZC sometimes get all glitched out and stop redrawing itself after sitting idle for a while like 2.50?

Shoot, I thought that was fixed in 2.50... Well, if it wasn't, it's not fixed now.

Just curious but how's the repository coming along.

Slightly OT from the thread, but are there still plans to open source ZC?

We still intend to do that, but progress has been slow. I think we're all still kind of burned out on ZC from working on 2.50 for so long.

"The game windows doesn't close until it's finished saving".

Oh, that's really good. I remember loosing my save file because I was in a rush once lol.

Shoot, I thought that was fixed in 2.50... Well, if it wasn't, it's not fixed now.

I have had that problem quite a lot(and I'm using 2.50)  :(.

- The game window doesn't close until it's finished saving

So, does this mean that it won't nuke all the save files if ZC is closed too quickly? That was the biggest issue for me, and it's an instant update for me if that's what you mean.

Um... I know you guys probably don't want to add any new features, but could I request a very slight tweak on the editor? I've been working with layers and push blocks a lot today, and no doubt will for a lot longer considering I was just told how to do this, but could you make it so the layers appear the same way in ZQuest as they do in ZC? Whenever I place a Layer 2 tile over a Layer 1 push block in ZQuest, I can't see the push block anymore, although I would still see it in-game. It makes it very frustrating to keep track of elaborate screens and block puzzles. If it's not a lot of trouble, and if enough bugs are found to warrant a 2.50.1 RC2 release, would you mind changing that? If it is hard enough to not be worth it, then I understand, it would just be a nice change.

Why yes, yes it does as matter of fact. This actually just happened to me for the first time ever today.

Question: Is ZC otherwise inactive or paused (eg; pressing esc or opened menu) while this happens, or never (or both)?

I've had it happen while under either condition. It's always when the Matrix screensaver has been running for a while.

It actually happened to TS in the middle of streaming a quest yesterday during a tiny break to adjust something outside of ZC. The only thing that would occur is the ZC-wide palette change for the dialogs when he tried to quit; nothing was otherwise redrawn.

Is this worth the download? I feel fine with the current 2.5. :P
