...I don't know what you mean about the pillar. Do you just mean that it looks weird fit into that space?

Exactly, there's kind of an M.C. Escher thing going on, where it almost looks like the pillar is supporting the
north mountain border. I know that's not true because the pillar is resting on top of the mountain, it just
looks that way.

This gives me a good SoTW idea, though. I should do an Escher!

Also I see what Cukeman is saying about your pillar. It's like just kinda there for no reason in an awkward space. Who would waste their time building a pillar there?

Moo2oo: I like this shot, but wow, that green kinda punches you in the face, doesn't it? If reality were this color, I'd stay inside. Still, the Minish Cap graphics, can't beat that. 9.997/10
Koh: Opposite problem- too dark... unless this is a 'night' shot, in which it is perfect. Yeah, we'll go with that. 9.625/10
IronFist: Also quite dark, but keeps the middle of the screen lighter- focus and interest result. 9.626/10
Ebola: Full of interest, like crack for my Attention Deficit Disorder (thus the drug reference?). Unfortunately, it's GB graphics, and suffers from an inferiority complex as a result. Oh well. I like how the monsters walk on the surface of the water. 8.5/10

Funny, how the GB tileset is about just as square-ish, maybe even more so.
And boy, your comment was no fun to read at all. Just so negative and dunno. I don't want to use the term "crappy", but nothing else comes to my mind. Am I'm going too far here?

Anyways, I voted for Moo. Than I noticed that the trunks are green and wished I have voted for Ebola instead.

Not at all. He was clearly just being a troll since Moo2oo's shot is by far the best. But only because of the graphics.The design is pretty good, but any of these MC shots would look pretty average in really any other tileset.

I understand the statement that this screen looks too squarish with the Minish Cap mountains, but that doesn't keep me from voting for it. While it's true that MC mountains have that limitation, I don't think it should get you down.

My advice is this: try to minimize how often you need to use those corners. They're really blocky, especially when used in excess, so use them less often, avoid zig-zagging, and make every corner count. Minish Cap had a lot of straight ledges for you to walk along, and tried not to complicate things too much. For instance, that indentation in the upper right? Why indent the mountains when a straight ledge would do? You could use rocks and trees to block off any areas you don't want to be accessible.


Anyway, the reason I only responded to your screenshot is because I voted for it. Cheers!

Umm, jumping to conclusions I see. I did not even come remotely close to saying that anyone who doesn't think Moo2oo's shot is the best is a troll. I was only calling PokemonMaster a troll because I found what he said made no sense at all and that he was probably just joking around since shots that use the MC graphics always win SoTW. And I don't know who the old guy is...

I didn't jump to conclusions. I just went by exactly what you said: "He was clearly just being a troll since Moo2oo's shot is by far the best." I'm glad to hear that you didn't mean to imply anything by it.

Another thing: MC shots don't always win SotW. They're just like shots in any other tileset; the tiles may be pretty put they still demand good design, and I have seen MC shots lose to other shots many times when the design was a factor. Even if they did always win, it's still a fallacy to think that anyone who rates an MC shot badly is joking. That's just his opinion.

Why do I make a point out of this? I think that people make way too big of a deal over tileset choice in SotW, when there are more important factors in judging a screen. You used the example that if Moo2wo's screen was put into any other tileset, it wouldn't be as good; that may be true, but try to imagine my shot in the MC tileset; I can guarantee that's gonna be a bad shot. When you compare design across tilesets, you have to take into account that different sets have different restrictions; the MC mountains just don't look as good in complex arrangements as other mountain sets. The reason why Moo2wo has a good shot is because his design fits the graphics very well; it's not just because of his tileset choice.

I suppose I could have worded my post better...I guess what I meant was Moo used the MC tileset and the screen turned out rather squarish, while EZ used the GBC tileset yet managed to make it look less square. If EZ's shot had been in the MC set, I would have voted for it still, regardless of how much more I like GBC over MC.
