in level 4, there's a key in the basement. if you go to the compass room, go up one room and head downstairs. step on the trigger to get rid of the tree blocking the key in the chest. now go back to the compass room and head left one screen. go downstairs, and make your way towards the first key.

CastChaos, that's a nice theory about the material and spirit plane. it's open to interpretation, but when i was making a draft of the dungeon, i thought "hey, wouldn't it be cool if you could turn the whole dungeon off, like putting the Borg to sleep in Star Trek?" so the spirit plane, to me anyway, is when the dungeon is turned off, and the material plane is when it's fully-functional.

level 4 is probably the most time-consuming dungeon in the quest aside from level 7, unless you know exactly where to go.

k I figured out the windmill obstacle and finally got the power bomb. I use this Power Bomb at the enterance of the final level right.

Yes, blow the temple thing's entrance. The super bomb might be good for bloswing up some other things.......

Thanks castchaos and akkabus. I can def see the chest with a key, but when i go down to the basement the other way there is no path to it. i suspect i need to go through the room in the north with the 3 vertical walls in the center of the room. the room has a question mark block on the left and a door on the right, but i can't find a trigger in either on or off mode. and i thought i was good at this game!

Actually, I passed Level 4 with accidentally using a bug. I got the Triforce piece before any of the treasures. I haven't been to the most northwestern part, so that is the way you need to take to journey onward.

I've gotten lost in Level 3 and can't find my way. I can see the boomerang and the red lantern, but I can reach neither. It seems like I need the lantern to get the boomer and the boomer to reach the lantern. I have the map, compass and boss key. I killed the boss, and that got me a big fat nothing...... someone help please.... tks in advance!

It's embarassing, but I'm stuck in level 1. I've been to most rooms on the map and I have one key, but I can't find the bow and arrow. It seems like I probably need the boss key next, but I am overlooking something. Can someone please help?

you're on the right track. if you turn the dungeon off, you'll see a bomb icon on one of the floor tiles. remember where this bomb icon is, and then turn the dungeon on to repeat the secret. if you can't see anything, you have transparent layers turned off. to turn them on, go to settings > show trans. layers.

from the miniboss room, go one room south, then go left one room. you'll see a room with eye tiles, which should open up a secret since you killed the miniboss.

if you head north one room from the compass room, you'll see a room with a chest on the lower-right corner. this is the boss key. to get it, you need to step on a trigger that's behind the torch.

is this the bug rocksfan13 pointed out, where you could get the big key by lighting the torch standing south of it?

Yes, indeed. It wasn't a new bug, I was just lazy redownloading the file at every update. (Note that I didn't know in advance how many updates would be.)

Also, I'm happy so many people play this quest and ask for help. This is one of my favourite quests.
It's also an inspiration for my own quest.

me too, i'm still surprised by its good reception. my thought process for the entire quest was like: overworld done? dungeons done? good, it's a quest. =P

It's also an inspiration for my own quest.

i played the demo and the Halloween thingy, both were really enjoyable.

Still stuck in level 3..... I did get the goodies however! I keep getting massacred by the boss. I don't have the blue suit yet... is that the problem. I have the magic boomer and lantern but can't finish off that boss. I did go scouting around out side of L3 and discovered the hookshot tree, unfortunately, I keep coming back to the same place that has a large tree and requires a key access the north screen. I have no idea where a key might be located. I just don't know where to go or what to do next. Also, I got the bottle, but can't find a place to get it filled.... boo hoo... I need help badly..... sniff...

You need the wand to get the blue suit. Also, you can fill your bottle only a little later, at north. I don't remember which is the boss of Level 3... but if it's a gleeok, just walk left right at the bottom to avoid the fireballs and go up to stab when a fireball flies past you.

the boss is a two-headed gleeok. if you managed to get both items in level 3, you can skip the boss for now.

looks like you found Hookshire. to get the boss key in this area, from the locked tree, go south and take the stairs. you'll see an unlit torch, which, when lit, reveals a path straight to the boss key (assuming you triggered some other miscellaneous secrets along the way).

Great game, but where is the hookshot tree, please? Been stuck for a while now...
