Well, I've been doing a nonstop watch-through of every generation from the beginning and making a complete list of everything positive and everything negative so I can get a good idea of how to go about planning my cartoon of G5.

What I liked about 80's G1

• Lots of action and adventure. A good strong point that kept things interesting.
• Firefly was a good example of an early tomboyish character. Too bad Hasbro no longer has the rights to the G1 ponies save for Applejack.
• Scorpan was a surprisingly awesome anti-hero.
• Katrina was an extremely well-developed villain and I feel like it would be only right to make some homage to her.
• Windwhistler, being highly intelligent, was an excellent addition to the cast. Her character development in "Crunch the Rockdog" was extremely well-played.

What I didn't like about 80's G1

• Weak dialogue more often than not.
• Story flow was often clunky, and many events occurred for no adequately explained reason. I blame weak editing for this problem, since a simple look through the script and a proper scan through the storyboard would reveal many of the hiccups that the studio somehow managed to allow.
• Animation in the first two specials and the movie was halfway decent, but still weak even for the time. And the TV series itself had even weaker animation.
• Not enough continuity. Individual stories are good when releases are spread out and you can't be sure when the next story will reach the viewers (this was a strong point of G3, albiet G3 actually had more continuity than G1). But in a TV series that has new episodes regularly, continuity is vital in order to keep ratings high.

What I liked about My Little Pony Tales

• More intellectual. Focused on interaction and perception, which gave it a strong message.
• The musical numbers were nice. I genuinely enjoyed them.
• Quality voice acting and quality dialogue.
• Sets were well-designed and properly thought out. Created a strong environment for the conflict. I especially liked the roller rink. I might have to give that a revival.
• Conflicts were often between the protagonsts, which allowed for stronger internal conflicts as well as the external conflicts.

What I didn't like about My Little Pony Tales

• Male characters were often portrayed as rude and abrasive.
• All of the characters were Earth Ponies. Pegasi and Unicorns didn't exist.
• Once again, animation was a tad weak (though not horrible).
• Anthro ponies bother me. If I was alone on this matter I would not take this into consideration for G5, HOWEVER it seems many people agree with me about it. The anthro ponies of My Little Pony Tales should not be given a resurgence.
