Finally got 100% in Etrian Odyssey 3.
Cthulhu Abyssal God was freaking crazy. @_@ Granted, I could have probably made the fight easier if I had actually bothered to grind to level 99, but I couldn't find any simple way of doing so that required a bunch of prep or fighting the post game bosses over and over. Besides, I was still doing good damage to it either way, so I decided to just keep at it. It also felt good to do it with my own party and not fall back on Shogun/Buccaneer, Shogun/Ninja or any other crazy strategy that completely trivialize the boss. (Not knocking it, by the way - if that's how someone prefers to do it, more power to them! I just wanted to stick with my party that I've had for majority of the game.)
In the end, my party was...
Hector - Gladiator/Arbalist - Berserker's Vow, Charge, Blade Rave. Arbalist for Proper form so he could hit things.
Alicia - Hoplist/Ninja - Defending the party in every way she can. Ninja so she could use Bushnin for dual line protection or dual elemental protection.
Lasaya - Arbalist/Gladiator - Like Hector, she focused on Berserker's Vow and Charge. She ran Front Mortar and Double Action as he main means of damaging things. (A charged Front Mortar is scary enough - having Double Action proc is freaking glorious. XD)
Avahi - Monk/Prince - Healing duty. Sometimes revived stuff, but mostly kept a constant stream of HP going with Protect Order.
Serena - Zodiac/Wildling - Launched all my elemental attacks. Focused on Stars since by the time I added her, all I had left were bosses. Wildling for Primal Drum to give the physical fighters a little extra damage.
I had a bunch of other characters in my guild, but they were more for other things. (Like my Farmer squad, bringing in crazy amounts of money for me.) However, there was...
Tabitha - Princess/Zodiac - Focused on buffing the party. When they didn't need buffs, she used Dark Ether to keep the front line's TP pool in check since it negates the cost of all spells used on a line for one turn.
Once I hit the post game boss stuff, I had to swap Tabhitha out for Serena. While she was incredibly valuable throughout the game, I needed elemental damage. While I could use the Arm spells to give basic attacks elemental properties, I needed something more substantial. Plus, it would have taken a valuable buff slot. And while I could delve for into the Zodiac subclass she had, I felt she would have been juggling around far too much. Plus, Avahi had the one buff I really wanted either way.
Overall, had a great time with it, even if there were points I wanted to throw my 3DS out a window.
On a side note, Calling that Detestable Name is up there now as one of my favorite final boss themes. >_>
Anyway, that's that. Farewell Armaroad! Until we inevitably get an Untold III, that is.
...
Now that I'm done with that though, I'm finally going to get to Alpha Sapphire. However, I'm planning to Nuzlocke it blind to make it a bit more interesting. O: At the same time, I'm probably going to play...Mario Galaxy. I realize I'm many years late to the party on this one. >_> On top of that, me and my brother have been kind of going through 3D World together. I think we may have gotten this team work thing down, but I'm sure there will be plenty of points where we're yelling and each other (jokingly of course) and throwing shells at one another, or throwing one another off a cliff. >_> Should be fuuuun! XD
