EDIT: Great Fluttershy episode. It made me laugh and almost made me cry. That's one heck of a bipolar episode.

With all the third-person reference, I half expected Trixie to show up.

Flutterb**** returns. The assertive-but-nice Fluttershy is here to stay.

For a while, I was so proud of her. The ending amazed me as well. I don't think she'll be completely assertive in the future, but if the ending was any indication of her future personality, that's fine and dandy by me. Though I do feel like she already had that sort of personality, which ties in to her sense of justice and fairness.

Eh, not really sure how I feel about this episode. It was pretty good, I guess, but at the same time, I kinda hated to see Fluttershy acting like that. However, there were some funny parts and some cute parts, so I guess that makes up for it.

The new episode felt like we accomplished the exact same thing as in Dragonshy, except in that episode Fluttershy didn't go insane.

I was hoping for more adorableness.

We all were. But if you haven't noticed, Season 2 has been focusing mostly on character flaws. It's why Rarity has been getting so much attention. I think the overall theme for Season 2 is that nobody is perfect and that you should recognize your strengths and weaknesses and rely on friends to balance those out.

Deep characters are what keeps me watching the show. There are no Mary Sues in Friendship is Magic.

No, not really.
Dragonshy was all about facing your fears (and standing up to bullies). Putting Your Hoof Down is about being assertive. Sure, Dragonshy would have been averted if Fluttershy were more assertive, but that wasn't the focus of the episode.

I kinda want to see Pessimist Sparkle again.
