It would've been acceptable if they had changed her in newer episodes (or simply not had her as a prominent character), but now they're trying to f*** up history.

Not naming her onscreen is probably a good thing as well.
How so? I see nothing wrong with the name Derpy. It ties in with her personality of being clumsy very often, even if the reason behind her clumsiness is her eye defect.

Actually, now that I think of it, I would say that her eyes exempted her from ridicule; now that she is portrayed as normal, I'm tempted to call her a dumbass, the same way I would if one of my friends destroyed a town hall.
Yeah, I agree. I really don't get why they underped her eyes, or got rid of her name. There was nothing wrong with them. And I would say there wasn't too much wrong with the voice, but I swear to god, I'm bipolar and I now like the new voice. The hell is wrong with me, anything I don't really like, I then like after a few hours.
What really confuses me, even though I'm kinda glad they done it this way, is that there's no version with every change. She either has derpy eyes, a name or both. If you're gonna change it, it at least makes sense to change it for every subsequent version.

Why? Because you think the name "Derpy" has implications of 'poking fun' and mentally challenged people, or even cross-eyed/lazy-eyed people? Do you honestly believe that this character, Derpy Hooves, with her old voice, derpeyes, and name, should be taken offensively?
People need to grow up and quit being so sensitive. Derpy Hooves had NOTHING TO DO with mentally deficient people, or eye-deficient people. She symbolized the mistakes that we make in common life. Our faults, if you may. But people had to complain to Hasbro because they're too sensitive to have a derp-eye'd, Derpy-named pony on their show. It's stupid.
It's not something I'm really worked up about, though.

I guess I can see where you're all coming from. I'm not going to make myself worry about it, probably for some egotistical, vain reasons involving my well-being not tied to one character. (Hell, I'm not even being sarcastic here.) I think that Derpy has now been rendered to have the potential of any other character. I hate to say it but this is our current reality: Ever notice how when someone acquires the label of "being special" everything they succeed at is met with applause, whereas a person without such a label doing the same thing yields far less spectacular results? Now that Derpy doesn't have crossed eyes, and has a standard'ish female voice, if she doesn't do anything .. well .. derpy, she won't go as noticed. She'll just be one of the background ponyfolk. Background. BACKGROUND. We won't be looking for her as much anymore.
Was that their goal? Who knows. I don't have any preference one way or the other.
In other news, Apples can kill you if you eat their seeds enough. I do hope that horses have such an immunity to their seeds. They likely do. I'm only worrying for reasons entirely obvious. Or something.
ALSO I AM FOND OF CHANGING THE SUBJECT often
I am a Sweetie Bot fan.

I'm not in any way offended by it, but I can see why people might be. I agree that they're way too sensitive and shouldn't get the treatment. I would have been completely satisfied by simply changing her voice because the original voice sounded like a mentally challenged boy/colt.
Unfortunately, a lot of people also associate "derp" with the mentally retarded, so that's where the controversy over the name comes from. The combination of the name, voice, and derpy eyes brought unfortunate implications that led to controversy.
After reading a petition, I realized that "derp" is just a word for making mistakes, so when you keep that in mind, all that really needed to change was the voice.
