In case nobody knew of it yet, best set your calendars for December 15th. There's a good chance of snow in Terraria.~

Just took a gander at that. I'm more concerned with whether or not this content is going to be temporary, just for the holidays, or what. And also, if this is a sign that we'll have a full blown random weather system implemented.

I'm reasonably sure that the holiday-related decorations will be permanent. People will just be selective as to when they'll use it. They're very specialized textures, after all. The snowmen look like more generic snow-biome monsters, I guess, so they'll probably also be permanently implemented.

One of Redigit's entries on his to-do list seems to be to create seasons.

Just thought I'd point that out.

Touche. He's already created Ages with the progression of weaponry through copper, iron, adamantite, miniguns, lasers, and so on. So why not seasons? Hell, they have a Hero's Outfit too.

Also, I really want to start to craft my first custom map. It's a lot of work, but so worth it. I'm definitely jam-packing it full of stuff to do. So many wiring mechanisms.

I guess the main thing I should wonder about is whether or not this will require new world generation to get the Snow Biome. I mean, we JUST started PureZC's world not too long ago; it'd be a shame to have to start over once again, just to get to the snow.

Psst! Check out Redigit's blog.

(Alright, so my earlier prediction was wrong. Eh...)

You mean his twitter? Or does he have an actual blog? Better yet, can you provide a link to it? That would be the ideal scenario when mentioning his blog. O.o

Yep, 1.1.1 is out. Kinda Snowy.

NO! That would make sense! I destroy everything that makes sense! Who needs logic? Not me! BWAHAHAHA!

Uh, sure.

And here's his blog.

(Turns out he didn't post it on his blog. He posted it in the patch notes section. Eh, oh well.)

Just played the christmas update today with my brother and a couple of his friends. I actually liked the addition of the snow biome, but the only gripe I had with it was that it had no spefific non-boss enemies, even in hardmode. The presents dropped by enemies were an OK add-on, giving you access to the candy-cane blocks and the snow-globe (I'll get to that in a minute), but they got annoying after a while as those were the only things they contained.

The snow-globe, which is occasionally obtained after unwrapping a present, is used to summon the Frost Legion - the snow equlivent of the Goblin Invasion. Using it will summon an army (or more like a mafia, if you ask me) of snowmen that come to attack you. They are far stronger than the goblins and they, obviously, drop snow when defeated.

Overall, I had a fun experience; one of the best I've had with any multiplayer game, with this. We even decided to fight the Twins and Skeletron Prime twice and the Destroyer three times. Things got annoying when one of us summoned Frost Legions almost one after another, which annoyed us to the point where we were about to PvP him for it.

Well, this was my exerience with the snow biome, what was yours?

My experience? I didn't get to play yet, 'cause I couldn't connect to Steam :/. But when I go to take my last final exam today, I'll pull it up on campus first so I'm already logged in icon_razz.gif.

I created a new world just to see the snow biome. Seems pretty small (at least on a small map), just a bit surrounding the spawn point. Still it was neat looking at it. Funny how a shallower ocean spawned on the east end of the map, but I am sure that had nothing to do with recent updates.

As for the Frost Legion, even with a hard mode character, you are bound to get killed if you don't prepare yourself with potions. I wouldn't recommend trying it before hard mode (but perhaps if you have the molten set it might be okay). You'll get massacred. Might try building an igloo sometime, but I am not sure.

I just pulled it up here on campus and raped the snow biome for the blocks xD. I can bring them to the PureZC world so that we can have snow, without having to start all over icon_wink.gif.

Snow Biome = Fun times. ^^ Me and a friend made a nice little "candy town" on my first snow biome map, and the snow and candy blocks will make nice additions to our little ore museum on another map of ours.

Frost Legion? Man, those guys are indeed pretty tough, even with full Hallowed Armor.

And no one's mentioned Santa Claus? I'm glad they put him in as an NPC. ^^ Already bought the Santa Outfit and a bunch of lights from him.

Finally, in reference to whether or not this is permanent, methinks that pretty much from now until the end of the year, presents will be dropped by monsters and snow biomes will be made on world gen. I don't believe the stuff will vanish when the patch is over, but it won't be available again until next year. So in other words, stockpile on the candy and snow blocks while you can!

The biome itself is permament, and it has a 1/3 chance of being generated after December. As for the presents, they only drop during December.

This has me thinking about a stipulation; What if you try to summon the Frost Legion outside of December? Does this do 7777 damage to you like other boss summon fail attempts?
