Well, as I said above, it's a game, though not in the traditional sense. There are no lives, or levels, not bosses to conquer, nor enemies to kill. It is a game of exploration, pure and simple. The entire friggen' GALAXY of billions of stars is made by procedural generation (which I haven't looked into). So it is rather a matter of sitting back, and seeing what the computer has "come up with". There is a back story to who you are in the game, though it is rather sad. Also rather sad is the fact that the game is not given TLC (Tender Lovin' Care) any more by its creator. It's still worth a look, though. Please note that, after a disagreement with a prominent community member, I'm no longer active there, but my love for the game is undiminished.

Just exploring? I'd think that would get boring after a while.

C is awesome. If you know C, you can learn almost anything (though you'll be annoyed at the inadequacy of some "modern" languages). The one problem is once programs grow over a certain size, they become rather hard to maintain. However, that's where C++ comes in.

Well, maybe it would, but the fact you get to share your discoveries via the GOES net kept plenty vying for the best discoveries (biggest tree, smallest creature, most inhospitable place to find life, etc.). But I just played it because I found it relaxing. You aren't bombarded by new things every second; the game just kind of doles out new sites to see gradually, as you explore.

But, to each their own.

I'd perfer some action in my adventure. icon_shrug.gif

Combine ALL the Metroid Prime game's best qualities, give it all these performance enhancing drugs. Throw in some rogue-likeness(planets, star systems, catacombs and mazes, civilizations, alignments, pirate bases, all randomly generated.) Infinite missions, over nine thousand different AWESOME weapons(not including the base weaponry you can choose from, and the not so awesome weapons) Thats what I'd like to see. Even if it isn't really a Metroid game.

Hey man, don't hassle me. I've already beaten it once, and I'm playing through on hard mode now.

Gotta say, this game was not overhyped. I got so much more than I expected.

Okay, so yesterday I was at this big meeting. At the end of it, they had the lawyer for the Terrie Schivo case come and speak. I cannot believe what they did to that woman. Do you know our constitution wouldn't allow us to do kill terrorists in the way we killed her?

Anyways, on a more cheerful note, my highschool group went to Redmond Town Center (a huge outdoor mall) last night and got to play a very fun game. We had to find ten teachers, all of whom were in disguise, withing an hour and a half. One of the younger girls dressed up as a Muslim girl, with those big robes or whatever they're called, and she even stained her face a darker color so we wouldn't recognize her!

Ballos is freaking hard. I can damage his second form, but have never managed to kill him. I can usually go into the Heavy Press fight at max health and missile level/count, but can't beat it with more than around 36 HP. Any tips?

(Cave Story, btw)

ouch, man.

It took me AGES to be able to get through the Sacred Grounds, defeating both the Heavy Press and Ballos without cheating. I think my record without cheating is 7:58 or 8:58 (My record with cheating is a 1:24 icon_lol.gif) I still need the potion, though(usually use it during Ballos's second form)

Yep, you, sir, are screwed. Good luck, you need it.

I did manage to beat the second form- I usually only take damage in the first form, because I suck at dodging the lighting. In the second form, I just boost under his jumps and rapid fire missiles when he pauses, so that's easy enough. Third form... wtf, Pixel. Wtf.

Sacred Grounds isn't too difficult once you realize that the Butes only spawn in limited numbers and you can usually just stand there under the spawn point and blast them with the Spur/Curly's Nemesis. You just have to make sure you come out with 50+ health and fully-leveled missiles.
