^Looks like Patra found Nayru's Love. Oh god. Imagine if a Patra 3 got its wings on that...let's not and say we did, okay?

Haven't been doing much with AR3 since I usually work on the quest on weekends. However, I have been beta testing 2 quests and it's kind of a new experience for me since I don't think I've ever done this before.

Either way, at school I've been thinking about some ideas for AR3, more specifically the post-game. I know it's still very early to think about it since I'm far back in Level 3, but during lunch I've been having ideas as to how to shape up the bonus dungeon of the quest, as well as soundtrack and gimmick. I won't reveal a lot at the moment, but I can say that it will hopefully be unique.

Worked on a few more screens in my 5th dungeon, and going to work more on my forest area in a bit that will lead to Level 4. I'm also going to plan out more on how i'll change the mountain arrays I have (thankfully I wanted to wait until I was done making my overworld before properly doing the cave systems in the mountains so I don't have to worry on fixing them... good choice on my part)
I must say, using the actual Launcher itself instead of just using the Editor icon to launch it makes things alot easier as it has a notepad built in to quickly jot down ideas!

Thanks to a certain someone who knows his name, I've thrown two new scripts into AQ Redux. The first one is a convenience script; it makes it so if you make an expensive purchase, the Rupees will count down MUCH faster. No more ear grating noise when buying 500+ Rupee items, or at least for as long. The other is one I've been thinking about for a while; a script to make Flame 2s completely impossible to block. At first, it was barely possible to block them from certain angles, but a few quick fixes changed that. The third time I gave it a spin, any attempts to block a Fire2 Octorok with Flame 2s with a Mirror Shield ended in failure and a game over screen. Fire2 Octorok 1, Link zip.

Just for the record, these two scripts will be added into AQII when I go back to that. Will kind of be funny that bubbles of all things are Link's worst nightmare. No, not the ones that disable your sword/items, actual bubbles that look like MM2's Bubble Lead. Those not being blockable must mean Link is so manly that sissy things such as bubbles become his Kryptonite. The faster Rupee drain one will be especially useful, given how expensive items are in that quest! I mean the Silver Mail is already 1200 Rupees (Red Ring equivalent). Having it count down about as fast as 170 Rupees normally is going to be a big help!

EDIT: Decided to make potions a LOT weaker in Adam's Quest Redux. I may also end up removing the freebies from the dungeons, but I'm undecided. The biggest thing is as I changed them, I've gone from having two potions that fully heal you to now having the weakest be a 5 heart heal, the second one being an 8 heart heal and the highest tier be a 100% heal, but only available very late. That means I have A LOT more balancing to do, including probably nerfing Fairies back down to recovering only 3 hearts from 6. I already made the quest much easier and that I'm accidentally doing the opposite of what I used to do; making the quest too hard.

Those scripts look really interesting.

Considering how expensive you plan on having some of your items, the rupee drain script sounds really useful. Personally, I like listening to a minute long drain of rupees, but I can understand how other people can get annoyed by this.

I really like your idea for an unblockable flame 2 attack. Flame 2 set to breath attacks are quite evil with this script. I can imagine Red Mage using this. If you still have plans on including Roc's Feather in your quest, that item will be very useful in battle.

It sounds like your quest has gone a long way Adam. I'm excited to see what you have in store for us.

You talking about my side view ladder script? Did you download and look at the example quest? PM me (if it is my script) or post in the scripting forums to discuss it further.

Decided to play around with AQ Redux's subscreen. I decided to add in the True Arrow rule because with Rupees as plentiful as they are, arrows will break the game. However, I am having an issue with it. For the minitile, I think it only allows me to set the CSet. This wouldn't be an issue normally. However, when I get a Triforce piece, the minitile doesn't flash around its black area (which on the tile, is supposed to be the transparent color). Also, it looks a bit awkward in there being below the typical Z1 set of counters, especially when Super Bombs are not present, as there is a gap between Rupees and the Key counter. All I could think of doing is maybe adding the key counter to the dungeon active subscreen and possibly place the Arrow counter where the key counter normally is? I don't know.

Anyway, I wouldn't have quivers in the quest but instead, use a feature that I'm willing to bet is rarely if ever used; the "More Arrows" screen type. You know, the "I BET YOU WOULD LIKE TO CARRY MORE BOMBS." type room, only for arrows and it increases your max by 10. As of now, I decided the limit would be only 20 because I don't want people to spam them, but at the same time I don't want them to be too awesome to use. With this in mind, I have moved the Wooden Arrow item to level 2 in place of the Shortbow and moved the Shortbow to the very first item shop to alleviate some confusion people had with Adam's Quest II's expo. With that in mind, I have also made a change to potions. Like I said before, they're getting nerfed. A LOT. This time, you will be able to freely purchase weak healing potions WITHOUT the letter. However, later on, you'll find the Lv2 Letter (the one that is the "used" version) which will allow some of the shops to automatically start selling the other tiers. Yes, I said tiers.

I kind of am ripping off Jamian's quests in this regard. Basically, Blues will be buyable from the game's start and heal only 5 hearts. Once you have the Letter, that will unlock the Red Potion, which will recover 8 hearts. Lastly, behind Triforce requirement doors will be the Gold Potion, which will act like a vanilla Blue Potion in that it will heal you 100%, but won't be available until the end of the game AND if you get the Letter to boot. All potions are one use and replace lesser ones. So yeah, even MORE balancing will have to be made around that. My goal is make it tough, but still feasible to do without potions. However, you better sport Pixcalibur, Y1oh, Russ or HylianGlaceon tier skills to pull that feat off :P.

I feel the perspective is a little off on this picture, as I was trying for a shop in a small hillside cave. Fixed arrow counter, thanks to a little bit of changing the tile to 8-Bit color usage. Still looks a bit out of place, especially with it looking like that:

Rupees

BLANK

Keys

Bombs

Arrows

I mean once Super Bombs come into play, it will look neater, being instead:

Rupees

Keys

Bombs

Super Bombs

Arrows

I can't help but feel the 05 arrow counter looks a bit off, but meh. So yeah, that'll be a 20 arrow cap at the start, but you will be able to pay to expand your limit just like you did in old school Zelda with bombs. Is this going to be one of the only quests that makes use of the "More Arrows" screen type? It's just like the bomb increase ones, only you pay X amount of Rupees and at raises your arrow maximum by 10 and maxes them out. On another note, I have a small string to change in level 2, incorrectly referring to the bow as the dungeon item instead of the arrow! Also, I NEED to make arrows a bit easier to get. Doing everything up to and including reaching level 2's boss, all I had was a measly 7 arrows. That's right, SEVEN. You think I should add an arrow shop in level 2 or should I instead keep the arrow shop in the overworld and just increase arrow drop rates and just in case, have like a 10x arrow pack JUST BEFORE the boss room? You only need three successful hits to defeat it.

For the record, that cave is a potion shop that is ONLY in the remake. You can buy blue potions this early, but you'll need the level 2 Letter (the used letter) before you're allowed to buy the stronger Red Potions and at the very end, Gold Potions. As mentioned before, Blues will only heal for 5 hearts (currently 35 Rupees, may raise the price as Rupees are kind of plentiful in this quest), Reds for 8 hearts and Gold for all hearts. Ideally, Reds wouldn't open up until around level 6 or so and Golds only where you require a full Triforce to get. Originally I planned on only one Gold Potion existing, but decided against it. All of these are one-time use and none of them stack. Don't get too reckless.

You are way more stringent on your potions than I am as I am sofar quite liberal with mine °o° however I like how you have the potions heal at different amounts! Mine does the same with both health and magic!

As for the potion shop in the hill screen... I don't have much experience with how the koten tileset looks, but maybe have rocks or something right above it to give it a better perspective?

As for the arrows, maybe have a hidden shop in the dungeon that sells 5 or so arrows for a certain amount can help, though increasing the drop rate or having a spawned enemy in the boss battle that has a higher drop rate for arrows can help ?

@RMA, for the arrow counter showing the leading zero.  in the subscreen editor, select the arrow counter and edit the properties.  one of the properties is "digits" or something like that, change it to 1.  i think it'll still show 10s when you have enough.  also, if you don't like the no super bomb space, then place all those counters as individual counters (instead of the block), and set show zero for SBs.

as for the perspective, looks fine to me.  you might be able to use some of your ground details to show the slope somehow.  or connect that mountain to the mountains on the right or the mountains on left.
