Finally did some catching up with Doom II. (I had an extended break with it since I discovered Zelda Classic.)
This time I played around with the Samsara mod and its Monster Mixer companion on Hell Revealed II (a very difficult WAD that is not meant for beginners; let's just say if you're playing this with Brutal Doom, God Mode is mandatory)... it was so fun watching those Flemoids infighting with the Hellspawn and D'Sparil's/Korax's minions. lol.gif

I was also playing Yoshi's New Island at times, and it's pretty much mediocre at best. What ever happened to the Yoshi's Island we all grew up and loved as kids? :(

The title screen music in Yoshi's New Island should be a good enough indication that you should return the game for a refund.

A valid point, but I got it for my birthday (my dad wanted me to come up with some ideas (it gets harder for me each year because when I get older, I don't usually need much heh), and this was the only game I could come up with).

Besides, I play with the volume all the way down.

To be fair, Yoshi's New Island as well as Yoshi's Island DS weren't even made by Nintendo, but a developer known as Arzest. Yoshi's Island DS was apparently co-developed by Nintendo and Artoon, which was the predecessor of Arzest in a sense. I'm sure if Nintendo actually took the time to develop a new Yoshi's Island game all on their own, it would be quite the improvement.

Meanwhile with me, I bought the Legend of Korra game on Steam and have been playing it a little. It's fun so far, but runs a little slowly on my computer. Definitely playable though. Still messing with Hyrule Warriors and Smash Bros. 3DS on occasion, as well as slowly chipping my way through Final Fantasy IV. There are other games around here as well I still need to be getting back to... :heh:

I never liked the Yoshi's Island games, even the first entry has slow gameplay and is quite boring at times... I always found SMW2 overrated by the graphics and the leadership of Yoshi.

BTW, I finished the amazing Maze of Galious days ago, I was playing also classics like Axelay and Bionic Commando, and now I'm around Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap.

Finally an update about my 32 team Wrestlemania 2k tournament. The North and South Divisions are now over. In the North Division, we have Steve Austin and the Undertaker as the winners and in the South Division, we have my mother and the Angry Video Game Nerd. I mention my mother got a 2:15 pinfall over Terri Runnels and Scott Taylor? Regardless, that means in the semi-final round of the Random Tag Team Championship, we have one of the matches figured out. East Division begins NOW!

On another note, I've been making something similar to Beep/Blast Block Skyway in Terraria using the new Gemspark Blocks. Hope you have good timing or you'll end up a crater.

EDIT: Most of the way done with it. It's only going to be one section long, but from testing it, I became a crater at least a dozen times.

Spelunky...SPELUNKY!

Spectacular game. The music, the graphics, the gameplay, this game is awesome. It's basically like, this dungeon explorer game, where you have limited resources, and your objective is to get as much treasure as you can while getting as far as you can in the mine.

My current best is all the way down to floor 8.

I'm playing both Bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors. Bayonetta 2 is a beautiful game with the same awesome gameplay from the original. I ended up getting Hyrule Warriors instead of Freedom Wars after seeing several gameplay videos from Freedom Wars realizing that it's just Monster Hunter that tries to be like Attack on Titan.

Aside from Smash 3DS, I'm mainly waiting for Binding of Issac: Rebirth to come out. Thankfully the former will keep me busy until then.

Of course, I also wanna pick up Shantae: Pirate's Curse at some point. I have to say, this has been a great year for gaming!

So I got Etrian Odyssey IV yesterday since it's on sale again for $15 on the eShop.

So far, it seems okay, but there's some minor issues such as Poison and other effects being a little too common in the 2nd "Maze" (I think that's what they're called here), and this is early on as far as I can tell. The strength meter for the FOEs seems to lie a little bit as well. Even if they're blue meaning they should be weak and easy to defeat, I almost got wiped by them (Especially that one that poisons and damages a full line every time.)

The engine in this game also seems a bit more lacking than the one in Untold. You can't Run, Floor Jump nor Speed up battles which is a tad disappointing. Grinding also takes way longer because of it. I've yet to see a healing spring, nor get access to purchasing any items that refill TP too. The skill trees in this game kinda suck, possibly more than Untold's, but I grimoired the annoying to unlock skills there, so I can't really judge..

Anyway, issues aside, I just got to the 2nd Maze, my team is all level 25, but since every freaking battle is a pain to get through, I'm guessing I'm a bit underlevelled. More grinding needed I guess..

Responses in bold. I initially had them in red as well but ew the contrast between red text and the greens of the darker site skin.

Poison damage is always based on what afflicted it in the first place, and I do agree that it occurs a bit more than it should. Thankfully it's the second maze and not the second floor as was the case in the original DS game, but you're right that the second maze is still a bit early.

For FOEs, blue doesn't necessarily mean "weak", but more that you're of appropriate level to beat them if you approach them with a solid strategy, while yellow means they'll rough you up some and red means NOPE.

Untold also came after IV and as such, it's naturally going to have more stuff going for it.

As with the rest of the games, how effective each class's skillset is depends largely on what you try to do with them as well as how they mesh with the rest of your party.

Anyway, issues aside, I just got to the 2nd Maze, my team is all level 25, but since every freaking battle is a pain to get through, I'm guessing I'm a bit underlevelled. More grinding needed I guess..

I don't remember what level my party was at in the second maze, but things on the third floor of the maze are a complete pain regardless unless you hit them with status ailments.

I've heard nothing but great things about Bayonetta 2. Some of the reviews I've read (save for one) called it flawless.

Anyway, I took a trip to nostalgia land last night and played Extreme Pinball for the first time in 19 years. The action was pretty fast-paced, causing me to lose my balls more often... but the music (composed by Robert A. Allen) is so badass, especially Medieval Knights (one YouTuber who played the game said this was the hardest table of the four, probably because it was so crowded compared to the others), so that pretty much makes up for it.

Well, Poison wipes out my first line nearly every time, so it's a bit too OP, right now. I can't even heal it as the attack itself also does massive damage in addition to poisoning 3 members every time. This might even be worse than Depth Dancers in Untold.

I've defeated a few yellow FOEs, so I don't really see why Blues exist then. I even defeated a few Red FOEs in Untold. (The turtle thing on floor 26 because random ambush when you have to have it chase you through the labyrinth? Also bad design there.)

What I mean more here is the Skill trees are set up so you have to spend points in soon-to-be obsolete abilities just to unlock something you want. I.e Line Heal to unlock Party Heal. There seem to be less useful abilities available early on as well.

Well, no status ailments for me, so sounds like Floor 3 is gonna be fun.

I'm running Landsknecht, Fortress, Medic, Sniper and Runemaster. Considering dumping the Fortress as he's completely useless as far as I can see. Protectors in Untold seem much better. My only options right now seem to be to grind regardless..
