Scripted up the first major part of a weapon I am working on in Hal's Great Cave Offense. Who knew that scanning for the first enemy or combo in front of you could be so complicated? I'm done with that part now for now, and now I am advancing onto the graphical stage of the weapon's script.

Don't ask what this weapon is going to be; it will remain a secret until my quest's release. However I will release a small, general, component when I am done with this script.

While all your maps do look great SkyLizardGirl, this thread is for Zelda Classic. Please keep it that way, thank you.

 

The Maps are meant for Zelda mapping 'concepts' to be all in Zelda-Classic format redesigned fully/eventually.  

So thank you for fully taking the time in understanding that.*

No harm, no foul. They were in spoiler tags at least. Do you have any maps you've made in ZC, SkyLizardGirl? I think you have a knack for map design, and it looks like a painting almost, in an abstract way. One of the things about ZC that makes it a lot different from RPG Maker is that there is no solid way to do screen scrolling in ZC which is pretty important in map designs like that, which are very open, and flowing. This forces a different approach to screen design since you will only see one set area at a time, versus scrolling around. /random tangent

 

Today I was able to get some new wall sets into Koten. Turns our Firebird's dungeon walls look really nice in Koten with a small bit of palette tweaking. It still follows the NES palette rule too, but it's kinda MegaMan about it. To be honest though, as long as it doesn't look shitty, or stand out a ton, I don't care if it breaks the NES three-color rule. Later games used advanced layering to emulate it so I'm emulating that :D. I'm hoping to get my global script set up completely too, so I can use an item rental system, thanks to Russ, justin, and SUCCESSOR. That probably won't happen till tomorrow though, but I have a few days off to work in ZC for the first time in a few weeks which is nice.

The script is nearly done. This is a teaser shot, which will be the only shot of this weapon being that be shown until the quest's release.

Looking really promising Orithan! I can excuse the lack of detail as it was a teaser and not the finished product.

 

Anyway, I haven't done too much myself with ZC, other than make one new dungeon map template called "Pincer". The map looks something like this:

_ _ x x x x _ _

 

Kind of deformed, but you're limited by an 8x8 grid. It's meant to look like a crab claw where one side is much larger than the other. Possibly best for a water themed dungeon, around level 6-7 difficulty. Perhaps I should use that 8x8 map design as my niche?

Began work on making Level 3 for AR3. I haven't got too much planned for this dungeon just yet, but I should have something done at the end of today.

 

I have been thinking of changing the wand into the seed shooter, where the wand magic would be seeds and the wand itself uses the seed shooter sprite. I think this will all work out pretty nicely but I'll see where it goes from there.

Well, despite my stubbornness before and adamant REFUSAL to make AQ Redux an 8-way movement quest, I've decided to give in and make it 8-way movement. Also, the basic on paper aspects of level 3 are underway. No more boring linear dungeon. Thanks to suggestions by Linkfan, Eddy and Kurt, I have decided to move in a new direction and I plan to remake level 3 mostly from scratch. The dungeon will be mostly the same, but where about 10 rooms have boss enemies, maybe only 3 will have them? You know, one mini-boss, one random boss level enemy and obviously, the boss itself. Major thanks to Kurt for the overhaul plan I am going to use. Also, instead of a looooooooong raft ride to level 4, how about a nice cave you can go back to later that has shortcuts so it's more interesting than a super long raft ride and then a boring to tears path to the 4th dungeon?

 

I also thought of an idea that may work, but then it kind of falls into the Randomizer syndrome of being too repetitive and would NOT have that element to save it. See the spoiler.
