So continuing on with Etrian Odyssey Untold. I'm been thinking about a rating overall for the game. After some thought, I'm personally going to give it a 7 out of 10. If the Claret Hollows area, various Instant Death attacks, Blizzard King, Depth Dancer and Iron Crab monsters weren't a thing, this would probably get a 9. But for cheapness, I have to knock off some points.

Anyway, I got to Floor 30 with the classic mode team, then switched the difficulty to Picnic for grinding purposes. No way I'm grinding with Depth Dancers on Normal. Lots of grinding to go, then I'll probably try getting the special grimoires that are needed for a stamp and will probably start Story Mode soon after that.

Kind of tempted to try and beat the Final Boss on Hard as it gets you a stamp, but that's going to be a long ways off, especially with how cheap I've heard the boss is.

On the side, I'm also trying to 100% Super Mario 3D World. The stamps are kinda lame to get for the play as every character in each level thing. I'm aware of the trick, but been doing it the proper way due to the TV being in use most of the time by someone else and Wiimote + Nunchuk controls suck. I also don't get why Rosalina loses her extra jump with any powerup still. Makes Peach the better choice.

EDIT: On second thought, maybe I won't. Champion's Road is ridiculously bad and buggy. Not to mention fighting with the camera in the middle of the one section..

I think I have a mental image of Hexen with your descriptions, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna like it at all. I should try it by myself, then.

Thank you both for your replies.

I'm currently playing Psychonauts for the first time, and I got an English translation of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix working.

Psychonauts is pretty much nothing but awesome, except for the forced grinding to get the Cobweb Duster. Every time I finish a level, it becomes my new favorite, and I think that I only have the final level left to do. (I just finished the Mexican bull level)

KHIIFM was one that I got working because I've always wanted to try Critical Mode and the extra boss fights, even though I already own the American version of the game. Yes, I know that the remake is coming out soon, but I don't own a PS3 so I wouldn't be able to play it anyways. I started doing a LV1 run, got my ass handed to me by Twilight Thorn, and am considering abandoning the idea and trying a normal Critical Mode run first so I get an idea of just how difficult CM is before doing a LV1 attempt. I'm going to keep the Zero Experience ability active until finishing Twilight Town, though. I want to get the Axel battle to at least last long enough to have fun with it.

I never got a chance to try out Psychonauts, even though I own a copy of the game.

I'm suprised it was a commercial failure upon release, despite its success...

Been playing more Etrian Odyssey III. Things have been getting a little better for my party, but it's still crazy. I can go to floor 4 at any time, but I want to do all the quests I can before going down.

On the side, I managed to replace the battery in my Pokemon Gold cart, and have been doing a Nuzlocke. Haven't gotten very far, but lost my Geodude due to a stupid mistake on my part. >_>

Also on the side, I started doing a solo run of Etrian Odyssey IV. Fortress being the class of choice, of course. Been a little tricky, but nothing too bad yet. Just got to the first maze. This will be fuuuun! :)

Okay, I'm now taking back the nice things that I said about Psychonauts. I was informed that the PS2 version was buggy and prone to crashing. I still managed to get through the whole game without anything happening once. I finished the Meat Circus, got to the final form of the final boss. It had 1 HP left, and I was already on the animation for the final attack. All I needed was for the actual impact, less than a tenth of a second, and I would have finished the game...

It chose that moment to crash on me completely.

After getting bored, frustrated, and disappointed with Hype_dogs, I decided to play Wolfenstein: The New Order (PS4). This is a very good shooter so far. I like the Half Life 2 style health system. There also seems to be a lot of stealth in this game.

Ah, yes, Wolfenstein. Even though the series is 22 years old, there's still a fan base for it (probably the friendliest I've seen so far online).

I play Spear of Destiny every now and then, but my favorite add-on is Spear Resurrection. It is built using the Spear source code (most add-ons those days are built using the Wolf3D source code, and many more require Wolf4SDL to run Windows Vista/7/8) and has many features the original game didn't have, such as landmines, new weapons with seperate ammo, breakable columns, ambient sounds, and many more.

Strangely though, SR doesn't require a copy of Spear to run, (unlike Doom, in which running PWADS require a registered copy of the game) because the files needed are included (most of the files inside, such as the graphics, sounds, music, etc. are modified, but the Wolf/Spear feel remains).

I'm sad there's no true equivalent of Chocolate Doom for Wolfenstein 3D. It's a game that certainly deserves being preserved and showed as it was made, even if it's just for its technical achievements.

I'm about 6 trophies away from getting the Platinum in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. I finally got all the Hope Fragments.

I also continued playing Infamous First Light. It's a lot more repetitive than Second Son so far. I may even get the Platinum in this game as well.

Yes, and I prefer close, accurate emulation over game-specific ports, but the hardware requirements for a "Chocolate Wolf3D" would be far lower than running DOSBox, and if it's written in a portable way it could run on everything, even in a softmodded Wii, RetroArch and less used/popular operating systems.

We also have FreeDOS but I don't know how to play vanilla Doom on it with sound.
