Completed Chapter 5 in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. All I can say is....OMG! Most intense chapter so far in the game.

I don't blame you. I looked into how the core was handled in the remake, and it's pretty different from the original. The original was really freaking BS, but the new one seemed pretty crazy too.
I'm probably skipping classic mode entirely when I get to it. I've gone through and achieved 100% on the original, so there's my run of classic mode. >_> Though it does seem like you get kind of screwed over for not playing story mode, as you do miss a bunch. Kind of sucks, really. Do you still have access to the grimoires?
Out of curiosity, what're you running?
Speaking of Etrian Odyssey, I decided that despite Pokemon coming out next month, I'd get a start on Etrian Odyssey III. Just hit the 3rd floor. Jeez the early game of this one is tough. ._. Running Gladiator,Hoplite,Arbalist|Monk,Princess. It's looking to be a pretty basic team, but something I feel I can work with.
From what I understand it's pretty RNG based whether you beat it or not. Plus you have to waste an equipment slot to prevent the Instant Death attack it can do to your entire team.
Yeah, you get Grimoires in Classic too, although you kinda miss out on some amazing abilities due to them being exclusive to Story mode characters. (Action Boost + Recharge is good on like any attacker.) One mission is far more tedious in Classic than in Story for whatever reason too.
I'm running:
Landsknecht with Axe abilities - Grimoired the Elemental Chaser abilities, because screw wasting Skill Points on moves I can't use.
Protector - Because you're screwed without one.
Medic - See above. Also gave him some Elemental Attacks via Grimoires
Ronin - Probably the least useful member, the Stances to use certain abilities really make them hard to use. The low defense is also another thing I dislike. Even with Demon Beak on the Grimoire Stone, not very effective as a member.
Hexer - People on forums recommended one like they're gamebreaking. But not really all that great nor all that terrible. Grimoired Gun Mastery and Charged Ice/Volt/Fire due to Elemental attacks lacking elsewhere.
More or less I wanted to choose classes that would be a bit different from the Story Mode crew and used different weapons. I've considered replacing the Ronin with a Troubadour, but that's gonna be a lot of grinding to get him/her up to level. I just got to the 5th area earlier so that's like 50+ levels to grind.
Don't all EO games essentially screw you early on as well? Story Mode does here, as well as Classic somewhat.

On Hexers - they were incredibly busted in the 2nd game, I can say that much. They had an attack that could do well over 1000 damage if you were willing to keep them at 1 HP, as well as great debuffs. And if you ran a War Magus, you could get some kind of TP engine going. >_>
Personally, I never ran one though in either game. (I used one a bit in 2 without the horribly busted stuff, but ended up sticking with what I knew) In the original, you unlock Hexers and Ronins later down the line, though I don't remember how late. I just remember thinking 'nope, I don't care to try them out and grind them to a useful level. >_>'

I don't know, I didn't find it too bad in the first two games. Money is usually an usually an issue though, ha ha. I had trouble in IV, but that's because it was my first Etrian Odyssey game. >_>

This is my first game here too. Been considering getting 4 at some point but it doesn't seem that easy to come across a copy and I'd rather not pay full price if possible. It seems online might be the only option..
Story Mode here starts you with one character and two temporary members to help you while you draw the map for the first mission, then after that mission, you're on your own for a little bit. You practically have to go heal after every single battle. They do give you a temporary free healing spot, but still. I don't really see why you couldn't have 2-3 members early on and get the rest shortly after.
I think there's that attack here too, but I'm not sure if it's worth risking and I'd probably have to rest my Medic to downgrade Revive to level 1 then to revive and leave at 1HP. Plus my Hexer is generally paired with my Landsknecht's Elemental Chaser abilities anyway.
You can also get infinite TP pretty easily in this game. There's the item duplication glitch in NA versions which can be used on Amrita IIs. Recharge (Story mode character ability, but can be Grimoired) also randomly causes your move to cost no TP as well. I think when maxed out, it's like a 50-60% chance. There's also temporary effects you can get to restore TP every turn, every hit or raise the max.
I was trying to avoid using the duplication glitch as well, but the game kinda forced me too due to it's BS in the 6th Stratum.

Completed Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. A pretty solid ending overall. I still haven't decided whether I like this game or the previous game better. Now for the Platinum run and endlessly grinding in Magical Girl Monomi :/.
And about Chapter 5's class trial, someone said that Akane said the most OMGWTF stuff in the game and I can definitely see what they mean. lol What the heck did I just hear from Akane just now? XD

I have a bias since it was my first EO game, but I loved IV a lot and would highly recommend it. If you're willing to go digital with it, Atlus tends to do a lot of sales on their games. I've seen it go down to 15 dollars on many occasions, so that's an option if you so desire.

I've actually played the demo back when that came out, so I'm familiar with the early parts. (Made it to the 3rd floor) What kind of sucks is that if the Highlander dies during the first floor with Ren and Tlachtga, you get a game over since they're guests. ._. At least, if I'm recalling correctly.

Almost got all the items in Magical Girl Monomi in Danganronpa 2 for the trophy. I think I have 3 left. I probably played bout 15 runs. It gets easier once you understand how the enemies behave.

I finally got the most time consuming trophy in Danganronpa 2

Now I feel more confident about getting the Platinum now that I got this out of the way.

Well, sorry for the delay with Wrestlemania 2000. Anyway, the North Division random tag team winners are none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Undertaker! As soon as the "team" they defeated are done fighting their little grudge match, the South Division will begin. The teams are:
- Shane McMahon & Edge
- Godfather & Chyna
- Jacqueline & Kane
- Jeff Jarrett & Droz
- Ivory & Ken Shamrock
- MeleeWizard & Angry Audrey (yes, I'm referring to MeleeWizard on this board and YouTube)
- Terri Runnels & Scott Taylor
- My mother & AVGN
So far, every random tag team match was ended by pinfall with Undertaker bagging the North Division title with a Tombstone Piledriver into a Darkness Pin with the victim's partner too busy taunting to get in the ring and save him. Austin and Undertaker seem to have amazing chemistry, but can they become the Random Tag Team of the Year? Possibly, but they have to get past the South Division champions and whoever wins the East vs West Division match.
EDIT: The pinfall streak has ended with Chyna forcing Shane McMahon to tapout to the Sleeper Hold.
EDIT2: Melee, if you're reading this, great news! You and Angry Audrey took out Ivory and Ken Shamrock! With your powers combined, you have the potential to be South Division champions!
EDIT3: Jesus! The Terri Runnels & Scott Taylor vs my mother & AVGN ended FAST. An unprecedented 2:15 pinfall! That is just insane!

Currently playing Hexen (PC) via GZDoom.
Dayum, it's been like, I don't know, 18 years since I last played that game? I fondly recall playing the N64 port as well, but that doesn't really count in my opinion... ![]()

Aside from trying to stay alive and killing everything that moves, there are three characters to choose from (each with their own strengths and weaknesses), puzzles you'll have to solve, and traps (Lots of them). Hexen uses a hub system of maps, so the player can travel freely between several levels while preserving their state (monsters killed, puzzles solved, items collected, etc.) between visits.
Does that make any sense?

How does Hexen compares against Doom 1? The thing is I have never been able to play an entire episode of Doom from the beginning to the end (I always become tired of the gameplay, then again I play vanilla/Chocolate Doom and not ZDoom/clones), and Doom 2 is a joke for me... Maybe Hexen is a better overall experience? From the very little videos I have seen it seems it shares the fast-paced, direct gameplay, the labyrinthic maps and the secrets, which are Doom 1's strongest points.
Basically think Doom, only with more of a medieval setting. In fact, Hexen is made with the exact same engine as Doom. Just for the record, are you referring to the game "Hexen: Beyond Heretic"? Basically you have three men you can choose:
Fighter- He has to fight up close, but has the strongest attacks for raw power. He has no ranged attacks until the second hub where he gets his 3rd weapon. He's the fastest, has the best jumping ability and has the highest Armor Class, starting with 3 and reaching 16 fully equipped.
Cleric- He is the middle of the road character overall. He only has one melee weapon, but that gets replaced shortly after starting. His Armor Class is 2 and can reach up to 14 with a full set of armor.
Mage- He is the weakest physically, but has a ranged attack from the start. It's weak, but especially on the highest difficulty, having a long-ranged attack is a boon. His Armor Class is 1 and goes up to 12 if fully decked out.
There are five difficulty modes for each class as well, which are basically identical to Doom's. The three lowest difficulties (Squire, Altar Boy and Apprentice) will use up your Quartz Flasks and Kraters of Might as soon as your health goes to 0 (the former basically an anytime usage Medikit and the latter fills you up to maximum). In addition, poison gas doesn't have damage over time and I believe you get more mana when you collect Blue Mana, Green Mana or Combined Mana pickups. The three highest difficulties (Titan, Pope and Archmage) are basically equal to playing Doom on Nightmare! difficulty. All enemies are faster and attack more aggressively. In addition, cheats cannot be used.
Some items also function differently for each character:
Fletchette - The Fighter throws his like a grenade, the Cleric's explodes into a toxic cloud which is one hell of a gamebreaker against bosses and against swarms of enemies, and the Mage's is set down like a bomb that shortly after explodes. The Cleric has to be very careful, as he can get caught in his own toxic cloud and on anything above Altar Boy, in addition to damage, his health will slowly drain for a few seconds (you'll hear him making a labored cough if you get caught in it).
Icon of the Defender - The fighter is simply immune to all damage while it's active. The Cleric phases in and out and while invisible, projectiles go through him. The Mage reflects anything shot at him. Regardless, you cannot take damage while this is active; it's just how the invulnerability works that varies.
Armor- Each piece of armor adds different amounts of defense. For instance, the Amulet of Warding only adds 1 Armor Class to a Fighter, but 5 to the Mage. Dragonskin Bracers can be used to add 4 Armor Class.
