Currently on a space simulator binge, jumping from Elite: Dangerous Beta to Star Citizen (dog fighting module).

I forgot to mention the other thing that modern TV's annoys me with. They feature the ability to dynamically adjust the brightness of the backlight! Imagine a CRT TV that doesn't consistently flicker, instead it intermittently flickers in an inconsistent manner, you'll notice the fluctuations every damn time with no hope of your mind ever being able to learn to filter it out/ignore the changes.

It is also the biggest reason companies advertise their TV's as having absurd contrast ratios (The technology lets them "Cheat"). OLED displays should allow for true black elements to co-exist with bright white elements without the need for dicking around with the backlight and thus should provide a consistent experience regardless of the content you're watching.

Worst of all? You can't disable the function. It simply isn't an option on most modern TV's. It's forced upon you.

Really? I have a television with this function but it's actually off by default. It's only about two years old.

Or are you talking about those LED TVs that turn off some of the LEDs in the back?

Yes, it's even present in non-LED LCD TV's. Dynamic Contrast is a seperate beast and modern TV's tend to handle that new fangled technology pretty well (You can, as you've noted, turn it off if desired).

Well I found out Ace Combat Infinity came out, so I downloaded that, and so far... WOW. It simultaneously is appealing to nostalgia for the PS2 trilogy and throwing in some new and cool stuff. The fuel system is handled well, and it doesn't feel at all like a pay to win game; it feels like a legitimately free game. And aside from the asinine unlock requirements for the campaign missions, I'm in love with it.

Just a few minutes ago, I beat the true final boss of Etrian Odyssey 2. And with that I've achieved a 100% clear and received the Hero's Mark.

Spoiler

In all, had a great time with it. Though after spending 100+ hours over the span of at least 3 months, I'm kinda glad to be done. x3

From here, I'll be playing Dual Destinies as I mentioned to a few people. And giving Ace Combat Infinity a go.

OBJECTION! There's an obvious contradiction in this statement. You say you'll be playing Dual Destinies, but as the past few months have clearly demonstrated, you have no intentions of ever touching the game!

... I'm sorry, that's out of my system now, I swear.

I've even playing my 360 a lot again lately since I got it fixed. Created a Brad new username (which sucks because you gotta start over collecting gamer score achievements, but that doesn't bother me too much.

I was recently playing GTA5 but now I'm getting into Skyrim. I've practically signed away my freedom.

No I'm not talking about dynamic contrast. It's called dynamic backlight and you can turn it off. I think it's because it's not an LED TV.

Might just be a few TV's that let you turn it off. The few I've personally used, including computer monitors, don't let you turn that off or even mention it as a function.

Just finished up Dual Destinies. Overall, I had a great time with it. Definitely threw me for a few loops toward the end. XD I'll probably do the DLC case int he very near future.

I would start up Etrian Odyssey III, but I've got a few games coming up that I want to play first. Namely,Dangan Ronpa 2 and Layton vs Wright. (In that order despite DR2 coming out a few days after LvW - Layton vs Wright spoilers seem to be a lot harder for me to accidentally stumble on compared to Dangan Ronpa 2. >_>) Excited to see how these play out! :3

After I finish those though, I'm diving right into EO III! :D
