I'm anxious to play State of Decay that I got from the Steam sale. It's all Shane's Robin's fault! ![]()

Finished Ace Attorney Investigations 2. Really good game, and the story was amazing, but I wasn't too impressed with the final confrontation. The final villain from the first Investigations game was a lot more intimidating than this guy.
By the way, if anybody wants to see it, the final Logic Chess session has an alternate ending for the game hidden in it. Without spoiling anything, just be as cruel as possible and break the guy down completely. I missed it myself, but found out about it online. Just make sure you save before the Logic Chess session so you don't lose too much.
Anyways, now that I'm done with that game, I'm trying to finish up Retro Game Challenge 2. I'm on the RPG segment of the game right now, at the "Collect 1000 Ducats" challenge. Once I finish this one, I'll probably try to work through some of the games I bought on Steam. I picked up a copy of Terraria when it went on sale, but I'll probably start with Bioshock, Bastion, and Rogue Legacy. They seem like the ones I'll be able to finish the quickest. I also got Portal 2, but I've only been playing it with my little brother. He's too young to understand the puzzles, but he likes the humor behind the games.

(WARNING: Incoming wall of text)
It's a creative game, sure, with a high quality OST, and a lot of magic and input behind. It's not a really standard game, and I can understand the hype and media attention to it. Yet it's filled with so many nonsensical events and ideas and random stuff I don't understand who thought it was a great idea to begin with.
Why replacing coins with stardust that are even more common that coins, up to the point you need to stop Mario and use the Wiimote to collect them? It slows down the gameplay a lot, and their only use are for buying new galaxies... and knocking down enemies before killing them with a spin or a jump. Coins were already useless in Mario 64. They serve no purpose when the series became so easy and thus death stopped being so usual.
In a game for a series so famous for its protagonist's jump abilities, it's very strange to see how jumping in Galaxy 1 is relegated to a second place. Collecting stardust, controling a rolling ball (or using the Wiimote to control Mario inside a bubble), or favouring the Luma spin over the iconic jump (why? What makes the Luma spin so funny?), or using the spin to complete a puzzle or advance through the level, or focusing in exploration, or collecting purple coins and one-time items... It's like I'm playing a random package of levels, with little shared game logic, and where jumping is a mere excuse to go from point A to B, rather than a Mario game where each jump is instant fun yet serious. It's funny than Sunshine, who never wanted to play like a Mario game at all, gives me the Mario experience more than another game that on the surface looks and plays more like earlier Mario games.
There's also so much filler... and so many texts and cutscenes, or to be more precise, in-game interruptions. When a pipe or a warping star appears, or a level event is triggered, or a character you have already seen several times appears, or a galaxy appears, or Rosalina believes it is extremely important to say something that is not really important at all... custcenes and text, cutscenes and texts.
The last paragraph can sound a little harsh and nitpicking, but I don't understand why a Mario game needs so much interruptions. Mario is supposed to be an extremely accesible and to-the-point game. So much unneccesary interruptions breaks the flow and makes the game painfully slow and unfunny, and "secrets" lose their charm. Even Sunshine didn't have as much interruptions, and when it had, they were a lot better placed.
In the good side, Galaxy 1, while still having legacy elements (like lifes and coins and star hunting), is a fresh game, which is admirable for a very old and established series. Save exceptions, no level plays like another one, every challenge is different (even although for the most part they're either unremarkable or poorly memorable). Maybe Zelda and Metroid should take a few lessons from Mario.

Finally got around to finishing Portal 2 with my little brother. Got most of the achievements for single player, but I'm not sure how co-op will work. I know of a workaround where I install Steam to a family member's computer, start up my account on both, put one in offline mode and one still in online mode, and play LAN that way so that I only need one copy of the game. However, I'm not sure how it'll work for achievements.
On a different note, my little brother thought Wheatley's Franken-Turrets were adorable and that they reminded him of kitties.

Reached Chapter 6 in Bravely Default. I'm 52 hours in and my party is at Level 72. Apparently, this part is supposedly challenging. Man this game is so freakin' long.

I have no self-control so I took a coupon from GameStop to buy three games and get one free to pick up a couple: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 7, Paper Mario: Sticker Star, and Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. The last one I figure I might as well just own, the others I've wanted to play. Playing Mario Kart 7 now and it feels kinda weird and limited after being so used to 8. Ah well. We'll see how this goes.

Tropical Freeze will make you rage like crazy. Seriously, it's more than challenging. It's unfairly challenging.
I'm playing my free copy of Pikmin 3. As my very first Pikmin game, I'm really liking this game so far. Looks like Wii Remote is the better control option in my opinion,

Now that I got a new 3DS up and running, I got some Nintendo points and downloaded Mega Man 5 and 6.
Started up Mega Man 5 and am quite enjoying it. I really like how polished it feels compared to it's predecessors and the inclusion of the Weapon tanks as well as the gravity gimmick in Gravity Man's stage. Currently downed 6 of the Robot Masters, leaving Gravity Man and Wave Man to go. Oddly enough, I ended up taking most of the Robot Masters down with just the Mega Buster. I was expecting this to be terrible like Mega Man 2.
If there any complaints I have this game, then it is with how common the extra lives seem to drop from enemies. Most of the time I came up to the Robot Masters with 4 or 5 lives as a result. Oh, and the possible cheapshots in some of the stages, particularly at the start of Crystal Man's stage.

I beat my Hero playthrough of Infamous Second Son...the original Infamous is better IMO. This game is still good, but I felt that the original Infamous had much better gameplay than this. It started to become repetitive really quickly. I'm going for the Platinum trophy on my Evil playthrough.
I also got back into Xenoblade...all thanks to Xenix
. I have some unfinished business with this game. I'm in the Fallen Arm, I was told that I have about 30 hours of story time left.

I just started playing an indie game on PS4 called Child of Light. I'm surprised in how addicting this RPG is. The battle system reminds me a lot of Grandia's battle system. It's pretty sweet so far.

Finished all I wanted to do in Mario Kart 7, which was get at least one star in every cup. Now that I'm done, I can safely say that this is middle of the pack as far as Mario Kart games go. I dunno if I'd have a different opinion if I'd played it before 8, since many of 7's new mechanics were introduced to me through 8, but overall it felt kind of slower compared to other Mario Kart games. The tracks were decent for the most part, but only a couple really stood out, and Mario Kart 8's version of Piranha Plant Slide, a course that did stand out, was superior anyhow. It's not a bad Mario Kart game at all, but it's not one of my favorites. Maybe slightly edging out Mario Kart Wii as the fourth-best, in my opinion.
Been playing a little Tropical Freeze, and so far it's pretty fun. Nothing really grueling yet. I'll probably also go back to Mario Kart 8 soon and try to three-star everything cuz I'm a masochist.

Made it to Zanarkand Ruins in FFX HD. I'm close to facing the infamous Yunielesca which I was told was the hardest story boss in the game. (Aside from the sidequests)

Shovel Knight. Where do I start with this game. It's awesome. It plays like Megaman, and the soundtrack was worked on by the original creator of the music for the first Megaman. You go around as a knight trying to save his love whilst wielding a shovel. This game plays next to flawlessly; it is a very well designed game. I love the 8-bit like style. My only complaint about the game is a very minor nitpick, but when you're shoveling enemies, I've died a few times because it knocks you back a bit if you use it on the ground. Other than that, the game is next to perfect.
