I went down to the local game shop to see if they had an NES, cuz I felt like grabbing an NES (I either have one without cables or don't have one at all) and some old-school games to play, yes I can emulate them but nothing beats the feeling of playing them in their original glory. Unfortunately they didn't have one, and I was hoping to pick up some of the Megaman games but all they had was 2 and I was going to pass on that overrated mess anyway, so that was disappointing. But they had Sonic Lost World for cheap, and since I'm a masochist, I picked it up. It was the Deadly Six Edition, so it had an extra level I could grab as well as the Yoshi and Zelda DLC levels.
I've beaten the first two worlds and my verdict so far is this: There's some questionable design decisions, but these levels actually can be decently enjoyable. ... when the physics cooperate, and they don't like to. The physics are the worst I've played in a Sonic game. I'm starting to get used to them but they're still a pain. That's not to say this would be "greatest Sonic ever 10/10" if the physics were good, as there's still been a boring level or two, but it would still be fun. But I know the worst has yet to come, having seen streams in the past when I was checking out to see if this game was worth it until the price dropped. So I'm not gonna hold to any hope.
The Yoshi and Zelda DLC levels are actually kinda fun though. Again, if the physics cooperate. The music is nice and the Zelda level is great for farming animals and twenty lives at a time. Unfortunately they disappear and won't reappear until you get 100,000 more points, which is stupid, but that's also a number that's not hard to achieve, so... eh? The NiGHTS level is quite fun too, if not basic. Also I haven't played a single NiGHTS game so I couldn't judge that very well anyway.
