I'm playing the Wii U version of Rayman Legends. So far, it's better than the PSVita Version. The game pops more, the load times are quicker, and the gamepad is a much better control option for the Murfy stages. The Murfy stages just do not work well on the PSVita version of this game due to the Vita's smaller screen. I personally think the Gamepad is the best controller option overall for the gameplay of this game. Legends is only $20 now. I say it's a steal on the Wii U.

Just decided to check out Ys I, since I got it in a humble bundle a long time ago. I really dig the visual style and soundtrack so far, though the gameplay takes some getting used to. As does getting into the habit of saving, since one false move can get you killed very quickly. Plus, dat grinding.

Wasn't mandatory grinding just the way things were back then? Dragon Warrior 1 made it so for at least 75% of the game you HAVE TO grind. But yeah, Ys I from what I saw someone play through looks extremely harsh. He gets to one boss, can't even put a dent in its HP, gets 3-hit within a second. Comes back when he does a pixel of the boss's life and he gets hit 4-5 times in a row by one attack, instantly defeated. Finally after god knows how much leveling, he finally (barely) defeated it. Oh then you have the ultimate low blow:

Spoiler

There was another game with combat much like the Ys series, although only the Sharpx68000 version had combat like that. That game too was hard but for all the wrong reasons. Namely because your character's sword is shorter than your pinky finger's nail and against bosses, that's all you have to defeat them. The only good thing is outside of boss rooms, you can heal slowly just by standing still (quickly in a town or other safe area). Also, your shield is overpowered as hell. All normal enemies bounce off it harmlessly as long as you're not attacking. The game I'm talking about is called Lagoon, possibly one of the first Zelda-esque games on the SNES. Anyway, if you'll excuse me, I have to go back to spending the next 30 minutes of my life killing mutant beetles with a toothpick so I don't get owned in the next dungeon...

Holy crap, it's only $20? I had been waiting for a price drop. Thanks for the heads up. :approve:

Earlier tonight I downloaded and started on the 3DS version of Aban Hawkins & The 1001 Spikes, which is an updated rerelease of Aban Hawkins & The 1000 Spikes, a platformer with a very heavy trial-and-error bent involving traps and obstacles as you go through some ruins. You start with 1001 lives (1000 in the original) and will be expected to use several of them.

The main mode has new levels not present in the original 1000 Spikes, and some of the old levels have been updated but not replaced, with all the first 30 levels now being given an out-of-the-way item for completionists to try their hand at nabbing; finding enough of them unlocks stuff like extra characters with their own gameplay mechanics and a few additional game modes. Additionally, while a lot of the original music is still there (or what passes for music; a lot of the original songs weren't that great), there are some completely new songs, some of which are credited to RushJet1.

The Nintendo releases of this game (3DS/WiiU) have some pretty serious but easily-avoided bugs mostly involving a few specific unlockable characters, and this has been acknowledged by the publisher saying that there will be an update to fix known issues soon.

Been playing some Sound Shapes Death Mode on PS4/PSVita/PS3. Man, I should have recorded my rage after going through this hell.

I'm downloading the completed English patch for Ace Attorney Investigations 2! It's finally finished, with all 5 cases translated! It's on the front page of GBATemp, if anybody wants the patch so they can (finally) play it too!

Finally! That's great news. Good bye productivity; I'll be playing Miles Edgeworth all day tomorrow.

Hope you're not planning on using a flashcart. My DSTT can't run it until the new compatibility update comes out. I tried encrypting the ROM and following some directions to build an update myself, but it didn't work. Going to have to either use a DS emulator or wait for the official update for my card to come out.

Of course, not all flashcarts work the same. If you're using a different one, you may not have any problems.

Yep, I'm playing Pokemon X again lol.

Oh, and the Super consecutive battles in the Battle Maison sucks... I can't get past the 1st battle half the time >_<

Well I actually was. I've got an M3 that the first game ran fine on, but my DS is broken so I'd have to use my brothers, or I've got a DSTWO that runs on the 3DS. I'll just have to hope one of them works.

If you re-check the topic with the translation, somebody already posted the updated file just for this one game. I got everything set up, and then my sister decided she wanted to borrow my DS, so I've got to wait just a bit longer before I get to actually play it.

I'm about 20 hours into Conception 2 right now. The game spikes in difficulty when you get to Chapter 5. I actually found that to be a lot more fun that way. It did get slightly better as I progress. Though that fanservice was just utterly disgusting. D:

Obviously the Wii U version is superior, it was designed and developed for the Wii U and completed, like 9 months before it got release because Ubisoft (publisher) demanded they withhold the product and port it to the Xbox360/PS3, PSVita etc. so the Wii U version got an extra long beta test/refinement and well, it's what it was built for so not at all surprising that the ports are second rate versions.

The reason why I got Legends first on Vita was that I refuse to pay $60 for it on Wii U when it launched. Since it was $35, was portable, and ran at the same 60FPS as the other versions, I gave the Vita version a go. The Vita version of Legends is still a great version though. The game stays at a rock-solid 60FPS and only drops occasionally during loading sequences. It's those Murfy stages that really irritated me. It shows how inferior the Vita's motion controls compared to the Wii U gamepad.
