Progress: Made it to the Wild West Town on the 2nd Island (the town after Route 4).
Team: Dartrix (Rowlet's evolved form), Makuhita, Trumbeak (Pikipek's evolved form), Magnemite, Snorlax (was the Munchlax that you can get in the Mystery Gift), and Growlithe. Team Levels are 19-23.
Things I like about the game:
-It's always fun to explore a new Pokemon region and see what Pokemon you use for a team this time.
-The Poke Ride, which gets rid of needing HMs to bypass obstacles (Something the Pokemon games really needed), and is faster (getting to places quickly with a charging Tauros is fun).
-The Poke Finder, a nice side activity that's a nod to Pokemon Snap.
-Pokemon Refresh is nice to have for curing status effects after battle without needing to use a item.
Things I don't like about the game:
-Wild Pokemon calling for help (A very annoying mechanic. A battle with a Zubat should not turn into a battle with 5 of them because it won't stop calling for help!). Made worse because the game won't let you catch Pokemon if the Wild Pokemon successfully calls for help (because it's "impossible to aim"....which is the worst excuse to justify not being able to catch Pokemon. Could you imagine Pokemon Colosseum and XD preventing you from snagging Shadow Pokemon if you're fighting 2 Pokemon at a time? That's how stupid not being able to catch Pokemon just because there's more than 1 that you're fighting against is).
-Some mild framerate issues (like in the battle against the Totem Gumshoos). Not bad enough to bring the game down, but is noticeable.
-No dolphin Pokemon (Too bad, I would have like to have one for my team).
-Level Grinding is a pain, thanks to Gen. 5 EXP Gain (higher EXP if opponent is higher level than you, less if you're higher leveled. A problem since all my Pokemon are higher leveled than the Pokemon in the area). Not helping is that every trainer I've fought so far has only had 1 or 2 Pokemon.
-Your rival Hau (Uh....why does this guy exist again? I'm finding him as that annoying character that you wish would go away. The fact that he calls the player character a newbie before your 4th fight with him makes him lose more points considering you've beaten him three times already and unlike him, you probably have a full team of 6 while he only has 2 Pokemon, 1 of which is his starter that happens to be weak to your starter).
Despite the things I don't like about the game, I am enjoying the game.
