I really like that, Dragonite. Different ways to go, and you can't there immediately. Nice!

New palette in action, along with my new subscreen in progress.

That palette mixing with the tiles makes it the most beautiful color I've ever seen. (In Zquest)

Plus the tile placement in this screen is excellent.

Jared, that palette is so good, I'd rip it without giving any credit, if I were that kind of sleazy guy. ... okay so that didn't sound right but basically I was trying to compliment it. Nice work. The screen's pretty dang good too.

Well, I would add a couple more flowers, and maybe a couple bushes. icon_smile.gif

Your screen looks very nice Jared - it's starting to approach the visual richness that you might see in a SNES Square game. icon_smile.gif

I posted this in the game thread but I'm not sure if anyone has seen it, so here are some work in progress shots from Mysteries of the Deep - my ZC raycaster quest experiment. The main difference between previous shots is that I'm working on the passive subscreen, which you'll notice is custom and rendered at the bottom. The mini-map and compass are fully functional as well, though still not finished visually. Many of the individual graphical elements come for DoR, though I customized some of it. Other parts, like the compass, are fully original. Obviously there are still some missing elements, such as the counters, and some things need to be tweaked - such as the position of the active item.

Well, Jared, waterfalls don't always fall down perfectly straight, but typically slanted; and they also tend to have space behind them. And for another fun fact, it messes up the adjacent mountain/water transition tile when its bottom is one tile up.
And at the same time, it looks really bad the way you have it right now icon_shrug.gif

MS PAINT!

Firstly what is up with that golden block? It looks out of place. Secondly, it has a nice design, but the pit below the south-most torch causes perspective clash.

And also geez man now you're copying Akkabus's work? *runs*

Dang, Blue Knight! It looks wonderful!! And Robin...remember when you said it wasn't possible to put the subscreen on the bottom? icon_razz.gif (On the bright side, it looks like a full LA copy is possible)

I like the map, too. You're so amazing! icon_love.gif

Wow, I love the palette and subscreen! I think a shadow for the mountain bridge would make the screen a whole lot better! icon_biggrin.gif

Thoughts?

IPB Image

I feel the top is a little empty, but I imagine it will play okay since that's where the enemies will primarily spawn.

EDIT: Just noticed the tile error in the bottom left corner and upper center. Fixed, so disregard that icon_razz.gif

@blue_knight:

Wow! Very impressive. It reminds me of the first Mario Kart game for the SNES in terms of graphics.

@Evan20000:

I don't think its too empty! Looks nice. icon_smile.gif
