It was an intelligent presentation with intelligent comments here and there. We watched four episodes: Winter Wrap Up, A Dog and Pony Show, Sisterhooves Social, and Dragonshy. It was the first time I watched an episode without headphones.
I expect we will be seeing more shows modeled after MLP in a few years.
Apparently, the episodes will be going on Hulu Plus. That might be an $8/month I'd be willing to spend. Or I could just buy the DVDs.
EDIT: Also, a One Piece crossover is quite possible:
Luffy - Pinkie Pie
Zoro - Rainbow Dash
Nami - Rarity
Usopp - Twilight Sparkle
Sanji - Applejack
Chopper - Fluttershy
... The other three don't fit ...

Okay. I just went to a MLP forum run by an English Ed major (part of the obligatory nerd club) here at BYU. It was the best thing ever.

This makes me happy. I wish that the teachers at my school would do this. Perhaps my old English teacher, although I can see him blatantly insulting the show (with many a crude word) as well as I can see him enjoying it, maybe both.
I expect we will be seeing more shows modeled after MLP in a few years.
I honestly hope not. I mean, it is very likely, but I would prefer to see originality.

Modeled after it in the sense that it's high quality and it uses characters that you're supposed to like and relate to rather than characters that you're supposed to hate.

If that is what shows are currently modeled after, it is no wonder that I rarely watch TV. That being said, I prefer an interesting character over a character I can relate to. But I suppose "interesting characters" are not exactly what children's shows are made for, nor are any of the elements I would typically look for in a story. I thought of it for a while and came to the conclusion that the only reason that I enjoy MLP is because it is inexplicably adorable.
Bah. I need to catch up; I am only on episode five of the second season.

Adult shows are a little more of a challenge. You need deep, relatable characters, strong dialogue, and expressive actions.
Making a show that appeals to both children and adults is little more than taking an adult show and adding things to it that appeal to children, such as slapstick, bright colors, and some occasional bathroom humor.
The future of cartoons will take that approach rather than the "child's show with a few innuendos" approach that is so disgustingly common. I hope for more writers that model their work after Pixar, MLP, and Disney cartoons.
But yes. MLP is undeniably adorable.

It's amazing how far youtube poop technology has come...
Remember what I said about fans continuing on the show after it ends? I'd say if the fanbase keeps going strong, it might just be possible...
Wow! Major facepalm there. I totally thought that today was Friday so I didn't think to check for a new pony episode. Just watched it with my little sister, it was a riot! Still, I noticed that they've started reusing parts of previous episodes like Pinkie Pie crying except on a different background. Pretty sure this has been happening for a while and I just didn't notice it...

Anyway, my dorm hall theme is going to be Pokemon. I'm going to put up Rapidash since it's close enough to ponies.

Well they have to cut corners somewhere because they wouldn't be able to make the weekly deadlines otherwise.

You should put this up and call it Rapidash:
