I'm considering scrapping Link's Blade Crusade entirely. It's nothing but a failed experiment and it's seriously tarnished my reputation. I'm sorry, but I've done nothing but screw up on it. For anyone that was hoping to see the release of a finished product, that's probably not going to happen. Submitting it to the expo was one of my biggest mistakes I feel. Adam's Quest II will most likely continue production. But Link's Blade Crusade? I am strongly considering just ending my expo short because it's been a disaster so far and those that enjoyed Adam's Quest II from this past Winter are probably disappointed.

I'm sorry to hear how you feel, even though I'd like to add a little reminder that the topic is about what you accomplished. :P

Either way, I've noticed the expo can have this effect. Hell, I was shaken up over TRIFORCE last year because it didn't receive the attention I wanted, despite it being praised for what attention it did receive. I know I was acting silly, but this wasn't long after I realize how much I blew it with Souls of Wisdom, so it really shook me up that many people was overlooking me to play the other expo projects.

My advice is to not take the expo too seriously, it stays popular for 2 weeks, than becomes irrelevant, and than half of the quests in the expo you never hear again. lol So it's clearly not something to take too heart or too personally. I wouldn't worry about how well you did in the expo or not, it isn't a competition.

I've also heard that your skills have improved, and that could be what's leading to how you feel right now. Sometimes the better we get, the harsher we get on ourselves, I know.

I'm sorry I never got the chance to try any of your quests this expo, but I'm still taking requests. :P I was also recommended to try your secret skies one if that is your quest (I think that's what it was called).

I'll be streaming that right after I finish streaming Zelda's Awakening.

Oh no, Secret Skies isn't mine, though I did give it a shot. Yeah, I know this wasn't the best place, but I do kind of want to just have my expo ended short because I feel like I went from having a decent expo last time to having a garbage one this time. I do apologize, and yes I do admit I'm just a bit depressed and disappointed with myself that my quest ended up being that terrible. I think next time, I should actually post on the relevant thread. Mostly blame it on me being extremely hard and unforgiving towards myself.

I believe NewJourneysFire covered a lot of what I wanted to say, but I wanted to add a few more things.

While it is your choice on what project you would like to continue or scrap, I really have a hard time seeing how Link's Blade Crusade tarnished your reputation. In fact, I read every post on the expo and it received mostly positive comments.

I understand getting a low score can shake things up a bit. In fact, I was a little shaken when people rated negatively to my quest. I got discouraged and felt like removing my quest from the expo.

Most people want to play good quests and they are willing to give honest input to help a quest designer achieve creating a good quest. Most criticisms, I've notice, are meant to help me develop my quest making abilities, in all areas.

In life, focusing on the negative can be damaging to one's emotional, physical, and spiritual health. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. What ever you work on Adam, I would consider the criticisms, but focus on the positives. It will help you in more than just zquest.

I'm sorry I overreacted to the whole thing. I guess old habits are hard to break, especially when you spent the last 10 years of your life beating yourself up over every little mistake. Even if it HAS damaged me to the point I have an inferiority complex, I feel that if I wasn't hard on myself and had sometimes overblown expectations, I would never have gotten through high school or college as well as I did. The more I re-read NJF's and Yloh's posts, the more I realize how much of a mountain I made out of a crummy rating. Hell, I had a 2/5 last expo and I wasn't getting this upset over it. Then again, I should have done the right thing and asked questions instead of going into rage mode.

Regardless, going back to Adam's Quest II, I think I want to go back and add more detail into my overworld. Shine Fields has a good start with two different grass tuft graphics (or rather, three random blades of grass pointing in different directions) and slightly less messy design. I can't really thing of what may fit a wasteland for foilage; plain yellowish-brown ground is not cutting it. Mount Frostbite has trees and snow to add to its atmosphere. The only problem now is I don't know what extra detail needs to go into Night Land and Forest of Serenity. Night Land just has three area types; desert, forest and mountain areas. All I really have in the forest are a boring set of trees and the occasional rock I layered to make it brown and stand out a bit against the deep green environment.

To be fully honest, one big fault of Adam's Quest II is that post-expo, I made a lot of changes, yet I haven't given it a full run from scratch to test for balance, namely now that the starting heart count is 5 instead of 3. A lot of the 1/4 heart damage enemies are getting bumped back up to 1/2 heart and I may bump the early game Gleeoks back up to 1 heart damage from 1/2 heart. Where before you fought a 2-header with 4-5 hearts, here you would have 6-7 hearts. The other thing though is that level 4 may end up too easy having up to 11 hearts for it versus 9 in the original. Again, balance is one thing I'm finding hard to work with. That and overworld design. No matter how hard I try, my overworlds, bluntly put, suck. There just aren't enough notable landmarks and things to make screens stand out.

In the future, I may give in and see about requesting some scripts to alter/add a couple of items. Won't make any requests at this time, but I'm going to be more willing to ask for them. I already have a few ideas that when the time comes, I'll have a request made up.

I have done it... after so long, the conditions have been met, the time is neigh, prophecies fulfilled... it has begun!
Level three is finally on the go!!! The details on the mountains have been added, the texture on the ground are looking good... monsters will be added later... but it is begun!

Glitch World, while still staying true to its chaotic look, should be much easier to navigate now.

Oh, and I'm having a blast using FFCs in Glitch World. Plenty of glitch related secrets to be found.

Completed an optional level for TRIFORCE.

This level is amazing. This level is horrible. This level is amazing! This level is horrible!

What else can I say?

It's one of the levels that's required to unlock The Temple of Cole, and it is no walk in the park, this level will test even the most experienced Zelda Classic player. But it's optional, which means you don't have to do it. :P You can skip it if you find the level to be too difficult.

Other than a few tweaks and a couple of scripts (also a custom boss and mini boss), this level will be fully playable from beginning to end. :) I'm excited to give the quest staff the first opportunity to experience the pain.

One little note I might add, I'd like to give a special thanks to Moosh who designed a few rooms within this dungeon to make it that much more awesome (and twisted). I really appreciate the help. :)

Well, Adam's Quest II just got 10 times more evil. Tired of Red Bubbles ruining your day, preventing sword or item usage until you crash into a Blue Bubble of the same type? How about having to deal with the entire Bubble family only now they can jinx BOTH your sword AND items simultaneously? Like with Sword and Item Bubbles they come in three types:

Flashing - Temporarily locks both buttons.

Red - Permanently locks both buttons.

Blue - Unlocks both buttons.

For those curious, to get a jinx to affect both the sword and items, you need to set a jinx type and make the effect strength 2. I go from ignoring it to coming up with something that evil. Hopefully you get your hands on the Whisp Ring! Otherwise, dungeons are going to be a living hell late game! Oh, and I'm probably not going to have the level 2 Whisp Ring in the game, because having all bubbles become things to crash into so you take no damage is kind of lame. Sorry guys!
