I still think that they lied about their reason and I think their true reason behind no cutscenes is probably to save space on the 3ds cartridge. Of course, I have no evidence, but that's my guess. I mean, like really, that leaker reasoning can't be serious.

I felt if players saw the cutscenes outside of the game, they would no longer serve as rewards for playing the game, so I’ve decided against having them.”
Those words were from Sakurai himself. I don't see why he would have any reason to lie about it, honestly 
If the reason was that he wanted to save space on the 3DS cartridge, why wouldn't he have just said that in the first place? It also wouldn't explain why they wouldn't have them on the Wii U version then, either.
