I'll just wait to see it later in the morning.  It's not worth losing sleep for my 8 AM class over this XP.

Oh? This game does not use grid-based movement anymore? Also, why is there always two versions of each pokemon game? Maybe someone could take that idea and release two versions of their quests for ZC like that. Also, it seems this game is for 3DS. Maybe I'll try it out.

Yeah it only took them what? 20 years to ditch 4 direction movement. Welcome GameFreak, to the late 80's! (The Guardian Legend [1988] on NES has diagonal movement, prolly older games then that also have it, also The Guardian Legend is a BAD ASS GAME, Zelda and Raptor: Call of the Shadows combined!)

So, they didn't talk about too much, but here's the highlights:

- Pokémon Bank announced, some form of online cloud-based storage system for Pokémon. They make it sound like you can have other people access this bank, but I'm not sure how, and if I missed it, well, I just woke up before the stream so forgive me. :heh:

- Revealed an exciting gameplay change: You don't get the starter Pokémon from a Professor for once. Okay, I embellish, but you also get to pick a Kanto starter from the professor later. Damn it, now I have to decide if I want Fennekin after all or I'm picking something else in favor of getting Charmander instead...

- All three Kanto starters confirmed to have Megavolutions, which look... very strange in my opinion.

- Iwata, Masuda, and the third guy (I forget his name now) are toting this as the "Pokémon game for everyone," but they've done that all the time in the past.

- X- and Y-themed 3DS systems confirmed for the West, but this is old news.

So you're not missing too much by skipping this; that second bullet point is the only thing that made me excited and actually gave a victory fist pump of sorts for. Thought maybe they'd finally reveal the evolutionary chain for the starters, or other new Pokémon, so it's a bit disappointing. Otherwise, well, it's an okay bit of news, and I'm glad I was getting up early anyway or I probably would be mad if I woke up just for this.

I think the point of Pokemon Bank is that you're not relying entirely on the game's save data to keep a hold of it, but instead, Nintendo's services.  Which I guess is for the purpose of not losing pokemon you wouldn't want to lose if you start over or anything like that.

I thought Blastoise's mega evolution looked pretty awesome though D:  I'll probably go with Squirtle because of that, if I don't go for Froakie.

I suddenly had a sudden obsession over Blastoise and this gets announced. :P It's pretty cool overall. Venusaur and Blastoise and probably the best out of the Kanto starters. Charizard on the other hand is unbelievably overrated.

You'll lose it anyway.  Nothing lasts forever.  The moment X and Y become outdated, there's only a couple of years left on those servers before they're shut down or wiped for the new games.  Everyone's data will be lost.  Pretty shit move if you ask me.

It depends on how long they make this generation last.  They could potentially do 3rd gen remakes that count as 6th gen, and even then, who knows how long it'd be until 7th gen.  It may go out someday, but I don't think anytime soon.

I heard the Bank will transfer over to each new game. Though I may have heard wrong!

It's Chespin and Squirtle (As always!) for me! ;)

Why would you assume this? Nintendo has never been in the habit of shutting down frequently used services, plus even if they did shut this down, everything they've said has indicated this will be supplemental to the save system that's already in place. So, don't use it if you don't want. I don't see how this could be construed as a bad move in any regard.

So I'm not their demographic, and have no intention on playing this game.

...but damn does this Mega-Evolution thing look terrible. From a gameplay perspective, it's just kinda like why.

but lol, fairies are weak against fire. KILL IT WITH FIRE andwhatnot.

So I saw Mega-Charizard and starting getting really excited. Finally, Charziard can be a dragon type an- wait, what do you mean he's still Fire/Flying. I want my dragon Charizard dammit. :(

Type disappoints aside, I'm actually liking the new Kanto evolutions. They seem... subtile, I suppose. They're not radical changes like with Mewtwo; they actually feel like the next progression. I remember reading somewhere that the Kanto starters were originally intended to have a fourth stage, so it's kinda cool to see that actually happen now. Makes me wonder, since Blaziken also has one, if all the starters are getting Mega-Evolutions.

Also liking that we get two starters. Doesn't change my original starter plan though; I'm still grabbing Fennekin, and I'll pick up a Squirtle later.

As for Pokemon Bank, I actually really like the idea. It lets you start a new game without deleting all your Pokemon, which is a very welcome addition. Not liking the idea of a yearly fee though...

So it seems it's likely the only way you'll be able to transfer your pokemon from the DS games is via this Pokemon Bank which kinda sucks... Though it's nice that you can transfer more than one Pokemon at once.

Not a fan of the yearly fee too. From converting it is seems to be only around $5 US dollars per year, but I'd still rather not have to worry about it. I hope they offer like a $10 or $15 option of where you can purchase it and have it permanently without dealing with this nonsense.

Why would you assume this?

I always look at both sides of the coin before hopping on a bandwagon if I'm interested.  This doesn't sound like a bad idea in hindsight, but there are many things to consider that make me rather just stick with the traditional way of trading Pokemon.

-The eventual termination or cleansing of the servers.  It's going to happen eventually.  Maybe there will be enough time for people to migrate their things over to the next generation servers or what not.  Who knows at this point in time?  All I know is, if it's too good to be true, then it more than likely is.

-Potential rise in the annual fee.  Right now, to most people, it's throwaway money, but it's not the case for everyone, especially kids who have strict parents.  In addition, not everyone is willing to spend money on something trivial for a game, similar to DLC or Microtransactions.  There is to be a free trial, but then that's it.

-Server Hacks.  Sure, it's Nintendo, they're going to have security.  But Sony, though.  If Sony, then Nintendo has the same possibility of happening too.

-Connection Issues.  Not everyone has perfect internet or Fios.  So we've got lag issues and disconnection issues commonplace with cheap internet users.  What happens if that defects the upload process to the server?  Are they just going tp lose the Pokemon that didn't transfer completely?  Are they going to unintentionally upload a Missing No?  Who knows.

I could go on, but these are the major, eye catching things I foresee at the moment.
