The 1.1 trailer has debuted. Only a week left and the game's content and shelf life will pretty much double.

A few of the highlights:

- hidden passages using the new mechanical system
- being able to assign NPCs to specific buildings
- Skeletron Prime and a couple other new bosses
- ridiculous PVP with all the new items

I will be so all over those trap mechanics. I am spam-whoring that wrench like there is no tomorrow. I mean, if anything, now if when I start building my custom adventure/RPG set-piece map. If only they had "Events" and quests that we can work with. I know there's an Add-On for that, but I doubt it'll be very compatible with things in the near future.

So Nathaniel, how should we go about with characters on the server? If we start a new character on our own 1.1 world, do we still have to create a new one for the PureZC server? Also, if we do have to create a new character for the server, would you mind if we at least equipped our new character with some vanity items, so the noob armor we have to wear won't show, XD.

I think, pertaining to new characters, everyone must start a brand new character, but vanity items are completely innocent. I'm tempted to say that you can bring them in from other characters, but at the same time, even though we're working on the honor system, (We can't check each others' inventories. We just can't.) it wouldn't be necessarily fair to say that a person has had an opportunity to gather vanity items while everyone else, on their completely new character, hasn't.


By the way, here's more screenshots.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15. Dunno what's with those last four or so. I see blue armor and a female'ish body (The silver boots look a bit weird too.) but otherwise it's pre-1.1, judging by the background and lack of "house" icon above the accessories.

Once 1.1 comes out, I wonder if we should have a separate topic for discussion of our game in "Online Gaming & Tournaments", while leaving this topic for general discussion about Terraria.

As for Koh's question, I agree with what ShadowTiger said.

Those last five shots are even pre 1.0.5! (You can tell because the hotbar just says "Items" instead of the name of the selected item, and HP is expressed as just hearts.) How did those get in there?

Whoah, good eye.

I actually got them from this page, but the actual screenshot URL was linked to on the forums, entirely out of context. I just changed the number near the end of the URL (SS1, SS2, SS3, etc.) until it stopped at 15. They probably had more screenshots than just ten before they were gearing up for the 1.1 update.


I do agree with the new topic. An entire topic for our Terraria world would be lovely. Many, many thanks once again for Nate's generosity in hosting it.

As for Koh's question, I agree with what ShadowTiger said.

Cool, so I totally don't mind starting a PureZC specific character, but I'm abit confused on the vanity part. Does this mean we can pre-equip our PZC character with vanity items (and nothing else) and still be fine? I'd love to go in there with the Familiar set on, so I don't have to look like I'm wearing copper armor XD.

Hell, I wear my armor helmet in my vanity slot to cover up my Miner's helmet. icon_shrug.gif

What if we have a chest of Vanity gear in the new "Town Hall" that everyone can take from and add to, including right at the beginning of the game that one of us takes from our worlds and adds to before we start our new characters? This chest would be in a planned part of the new world, though we can't do anything but place the chest and then add vanity gear into it.

That's -if- people agree to it. I'm still somewhat against the idea because people ought to be starting completely from scratch, even though vanity gear doesn't do anything. I would say that if there was vanity gear that was literally as common as copper ore, that would be okay, but there really isn't early on, if at all. Probably best for us to start from scratch anyway. icon_unsettled.gif It is, after all, the honor system.

Well technically the Familiar set IS as common as copper ore, since you can easily buy it from the Clothier icon_smile.gif. It's not expensive at all either. It really just makes your character look like they do when they aren't wearing armor :3. I like to hide the fact that I'm wearing armor, or just wearing noob armor, in the PZC case.

You could certainly argue that, yes. I would be heavily inclined to say that everyone deserves an opportunity to hide their armor and just wear their regular clothing, if such a thing is even possible.

The other side of the argument is that you need to have defeated Skeletron in order to gain access to the Clothier. You do the math on that one.

While we are waiting for the anticipated time, we should think of what to name this world. That is one thing that tends to leave me undecided, as what I have to use is familiar names from video games, D&D, or even Sci-Fi. I probably have the most coming from D&D, from the Forgotten Realms campaign setting (the same one that Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate is on, by the way).

I still say On the Green. Hopefully, you see what I did there icon_smile.gif. And no Familiar Set D:!? I just don't want that horrible-looking copper through gold armor showing on up me >-<.

The copper helmet looks like a pinecone or something. I'm actually somewhat surprised that there isn't an option to right-click on a vanity slot and have that slot take up an "invisible" or "not-applicable" function to the armor to its right, making it invisible. It would have the same effect as wearing a vanity gear, but instead it just makes your armor transparent while keeping that armor effect. That would be really useful.

Some potential names:
  • Frostmere
  • Covendale
  • Grove Deep
  • Misty Hallows (Get it? The Hallow? ... ... yerp.)
  • Terra Nova (Not like the TV Show, even though it's awesome, but a new land!)
  • Sancre Tor - Because it sounds awesome.
  • Gadratore, Sarelux, Panthri Lux, Koramir, .. and other random names. icon_razz.gif
  • Sun's Wake
  • Vale's End
  • Kamilux, Adrokor...
  • Heaven Field
