*listens* ...Heeehehehe...

Okay, I have three things to say about this:

1. It's obvious that what we have on our hands here, first and foremost, is probably just a mischievous composer. Zelda's Lullaby has always essentially been Zelda's theme, and for any given Nintendo home console, it's a safe bet that Zelda will play a part in the first Zelda title released on that console. So the composer can easily determine that Zelda's Lullaby will characterize the game. Twilight Princess' trailer music had Zelda's Lullaby interwoven into it, as well.

2. Musically, I have heard similar things done before. Chrono Cross' overworld theme, for instance, took the bridge from the Chrono Trigger main theme and swapped it with the refrain. This SS trailer is a little more subtle than that, but still close enough to elicit vague nostalgia from listeners. Also, keep in mind that this is just the trailer, and these days trailer music is usually produced specifically for the trailer. The rest of the soundtrack was probably still in development, and it's even possible that they got a different composer for the trailer theme (I could SWEAR that the music from TP's earliest trailer wasn't composed by Koji Kondo).

3. If you're wondering how someone figured out the reversal, just listen to the music in the original trailer. It doesn't take a musical genius to notice that those three notes that repeat throughout the trailer are Zelda's Lullaby in reverse. Some probably caught it and decided to reverse the audio to illustrate their point, thus realizing that the similarity was even stronger after a second look.

...Anyway, I don't see this as having any bearing on the story at all, given many past experiences with E3 game trailers. But what I CAN say is that the music you hear is probably a good representation of the feel of the game. This music was from... what... the third trailer for this title?... Usually the first two early trailers for a game have lots of inconsistencies, but within a year of release they start to portray the game pretty accurately.

I mean, step back and think about this for a moment: why would they do this? It makes no sense, no media that takes themselves seriously would post this as an actual news story trying to point out that "this song makes it obvious that the game will feature Zelda" or "that it's tied to OoT" or whatever, which means that it wouldn't give them any proper PR. And don't say PR isn't important... PR is everything, and Nintendo does not make one single move without thinking of PR. Chances are Nintendo, or the composer just decided to drop in a little homage.
I seriously doubt it wasn't PR from Nintendo. Such a thing can easily create hype especially if it isn't found straight away, it can of course backfire like what was seen with Batman: Arkham Asylum (Great game btw, go play it on PC with PhysX!).

Possible leaked theme from Skyward Sword apparently. Not sure how legit it may or may not be, but I know I heard a beat in it that was in one of the trailer themes. But it cut off way too soon just when I was starting to enjoy it. D:

Well either way, whether it's real or a clever fake, it's something worthy of bumping the thread for and hopefully bringing it back to life. :heh:

I really like it. Not too fast, not too slow, and it has that perfect big feel to it. I think I might be a little sad if this isn't actually the main theme, but I'm sure whatever the main theme is will turn out to be great.

That is....just so beautiful.
But I noticed they didn't take the little pause after the "Dawn" theme...like they usually do.

I really like it, but why it has come out now and not, like, a year ago has me wondering about its legitimacy. I have to agree with Russ, even if I wish this were the main theme, I know that whatever the main theme turns out to be, it will be awesome. Kondo's (I assume he is, at least, helping with composing the game's songs) never let me down yet, and with Mario Galaxy's Yokota handling the orchestration, I'm rather excited!

Hey, nice. icon_smile.gif

I like it, yes. I think it speaks well of the game and fits the Zelda series while being a little more exciting. But I don't think it is the overworld theme. It sounds too intense for something you hear that often.

In fact, it sounds like something that would be in a trailer or an opening demo. But I don't hear any sound effects, so if that's the case, it was leaked directly, rather than just recorded from demo trailer or summat.

Anyway, this is the direction I would like to hear Zelda music go. It has some of the qualities of the Dance of Remembrance tracks that have been finished.

It could possibly be an overworld battle theme; for example, from OoT-onwards, when you approached an enemy on the overworld, the music would gradually get more and more "intense." I think this would work well in that role.

Probably going to be used for a flashback moment to another Zelda game moment.

Oh, might I also mention: Twilight Princess had a VERY OoT-esque placeholder overworld theme which was heard in some of the demos. Apparently it was churned out early on, to give them something to play during the demos, and possibly to trigger some early nostalgia.

I understand this theme hasn't appeared in a demo, but that may have been its purpose. Many things could have been done with it.

Saw it a long time ago, is pretty deep into my YouTube favorites, but I indeed got a laugh or two out of it. Now hopefully tomorrow Nintendo will give us some new stuff to talk about regarding the game itself instead of this thread going as stagnant as it is. *glances at OoT 3D thread's size, glares*

I'm gonna be honest: so am I! I can't wait for tomorrow! I usually don't like to hype myself up so much, but for some reason, I am. icon_heh.gif I'm still going to try my hardest to NOT expect much, but... yeah. I REALLY hope the game is challenging and has good story.
