Whipped up something just for the kicks. May'be I'll win, which would be totally unexpected.

I, too, have entered for 333.

(When you see it, please tell me if the dimmer pallette I used looks okay. It's an overworld shot.)
Good luck then! I'm looking foward to this.

I think I entered 333 a little bit in advance, as in the early stages of 332 time period. I don't think it's my best screen, but it's easy to understand. I've kind of forgotten if I've submitted my shot or not, so I might be in 333 or I might not be in 333.
Ask Ebloa or TS to see if you got it in.

Ive been very busy, and I thought i wasnt going to enter, but I ended up using zquest till four in the morning working on a shot. Curses.
I can see a good shot comming out of this.

Entered 333 a few days ago. And honestly, I can't remember which screen I did!
More competition, exactly what SotW needs.

I'd like to see this.

So, we've got 7 confirmed entries here, which should make this SotW a blast icon_biggrin.gif.

I've entered too, but I will not win. Just tested out my skills with the classic set, and I think I'm better with DoR and Pure icon_shrug.gif

I made 3 shots and struggled to chose which one to pick. I chose the first and will do the second and third in later SotWs I think.

William is back and better than ever! I actually entered Screen Shot of the Week before my ban. Hopefully that screen can be used for the upcoming SotW 333? Thanks, Ebola!

No problem, I'll throw it in this week.

And with that I will begin to create the polls; there are more than ten shots so I'll have to split it into two topics. Jerks.

EDIT: Oops. It showed me a topic called The Moon, but said the files to view it were missing. I guessed that it was a glitch that caused a topic that had only been previewed to show up, but now it's showing up and claims to have been posted by the time I saw it.

Regarding my submission for 333, it seems to me from the comments so far that it could use shadows in order to tell the depth easier. If there are clouds preventing the sun from coming you wouldn't necessarily have defined shadows; however, even on cloudy days, the area underneath and overhang is not going to be as bright as the other areas. So I can tell that it needs shading/shadows.

My question is what direction would make better sense for the shadows to go? Would diagonal shadows (for the pillars) look better than shadows that go straight back?

Here's a rough design using what I meant 'diagonal shadows':

I don't think you should use diagonal shadows unless everything in the screen also has shadows going in that direction,
such as the trees. And I would not recommend going to all that work. I would make the pillar shadows the same
vertical shape as the pillars, just shifted a few pixels to the side, if you know what I mean.

Lightwulf I think you did a great job on these shadows, but they are much too fancy for your graphical
style. It it like SNES sprites in an NES game. Compare the amazing shadows on your building to the simple
shadows under your trees.

I put this together to show you what I had in mind:

IPB Image IPB Image

By overlaying the transparent black shape(s) on the right, I made some very simple, minimal shadows,
which I feel are much more suited to your clean graphical style. Since you are using graphics
with an almost classic feel to them, I don't think you need to get carried away.

Also note, how my shadow job doesn't hide the building as much as the one you posted. It lets
us see the nice detail work you have in the walls and floorboards. It is just enough to set off
the wall from the balcony above. I have to say I love what you've done in this shot.
