I believe a map like that already exists. Don't remember that address for it though, Peteo might know still.

Yeah, but you made the thing. You should know better than anybody what the best routes are and where everything is.

I tried playing your game. It was a lot of fun, but I got horribly, horribly lost. Lost Isle is one of the very few games where I could not call it cheating to find and use a map to locate step-by-step where things were.

Hi

Do you mean a map kind of this click me

Ha, that's the map! icon_smile.gif

There's no step-by-step walkthrough in text form anywhere, but there are many videos on Youtube that you could find helpful.

Hey Wolfie love, nice to see you still posting here! Have you played Skyward Sword yet? I find it amusing how many similarities there are between the game and Lost Isle. Maybe someone from Nintendo got their hands on LI and got some of those ideas from there... icon_wink.gif

Oh, I already had the map. I just meant that in most other games, I would have thought of it as cheating, almost. Lost Isle was just so freaking huge, and gave next to no hints on where to go next, that you needed a map just to get around.

Well there's certainly no one holding your hand through the quest, that's the way me and Wolfie like it. But once you get familiar with the surroundings, moving around the big overworld shouldn't be too tough (especially with the in game map). I've always said this game is really much like Metroid. Exploring and turning every stone is the key to get further in the game. It's the kind of thing that divides people, some love it some hate it. icon_smile.gif

So, have either of you ever considered updating the game to work on RC2? I'm not exactly sure, but it doesn't seem like it would take too much work to do, just a minor change here or there. I mean, you didn't script anything, did you?

Heck, if you do decide to do that, I'd be willing to try to replay it on RC2 to find any bugs that come up.

Well there are scripts in Lost Isle, but not too many of them.

However, I lost faith in ZC long time ago and haven't been following the updates for over a year now. A stupid question, but what is a RC2? Another buggy and unstable ZC release?

icon_lol.gif It's okay, I understand.

It's version 2.5 RC2. It's like the build number, but more like pending completion. However, people have reported bugs; I've seen the RC2 thread in the General Discussion forum. Read that if you want to see what the bugs are about (but the thread is quite long by now).

Well even I enjoy the game and have to play through it at least once a year. It's the mood and the challenge of the game that keeps me coming back I guess. I know I should be bored to death by now as I was there to make the game with you but no *shrugs*

Oh how I wish there would some day be another great game builder like Zelda Classic so I could continue designing games. I miss the excitement of making games and releasing them to masses! icon_cry.gif icon_cry.gif

Game Maker 8.1 Pro is actually quite versatile and appears to give you a great deal of freedom to do whatever you want. I will say that the learning curve is incredibly steep at the start to learn the program, but tapers off dramatically once you get the hang of it.

Less than 8 hours, zero deaths, zero shields lost, zero potions used, 100% completion. My very best. The last four conditions are pretty easy to accomplish with time, but to do it all under 8 hours. It takes some SERIOUS planning on the most expedient route through the island picking up only what is in your way or won't take a lot of time inbetween Point A and B. It was quite a challenge!

My best play of this is: no shields lost, 3 potions used ,3deaths ,100% completion 14 hours gametime .

Nice! I'd honestly like to see other people's very best scores! icon_biggrin.gif Especially since I just laid down the grading criteria for such scores.

I once did a 100% run with no deaths and my time was around 8:40 - 8:45 when I got the bomberang. I don't remember other details such as potions used though.

I am somewhat tempted to try for a sub-8:00 100% run sometime.
