I'm finally done with all four parts of Penny Arcade Adventures. It was pretty good, and the ending was awesome. However, I liked the first two games more, and I'm a bit at odds with the mechanics to the game. I mean, the writing for the story is great, but the gameplay itself drags it down a bit. It's not that they aren't fun, but you have to hunt down every individual enemy to scrounge up enough EXP to stand a chance. It makes you just want to rush to the next bit of the story. The end of the game gives you so much stuff and leaves you so overpowered that you can breeze through the rest and get through the story really quickly, but it's a bit disappointing that you have to break the game to enjoy the best parts. The sudden point when you go from struggling to curb-stomping everything is very sudden, and I think a more normal combat system that didn't restrict you to limited enemy battles and allowed you to level up however much you wanted would have helped a lot.
So, yeah. Awesome games, but now that I'm finished with them, I don't think I'll play them again. They're probably just going to sit in my Steam Library forever and never get played again. Next up is seeing how well this computer holds up with Arkham Asylum. I'd like to finally finish this game, now that I've got a controller that should work for it.
