Oh come on guys, I've been here five years; I'm not that dumb.

I'm playing in build 1262 because midi playback is irreparably broken in the Linux version of the Lost Isle build--and I say this having spent considerable time and effort trying to make it work. I'm well-aware of the issues of playing quests in versions of ZC other than the one they were intended for, but honestly, I'd rather not play LI at all than go through the whole game without music.

In any case, it's not a completely game-breaking bug, since Svalbard Temple is (technically) optional, as far as I can tell.

True, but you're going to have a much harder time completing the game without the Blue Mail. Good luck!

Why so many people don't bother to download the correct ZC version when it's almost certain that you will experience serious bugs if playing with a wrong version... icon_mad.gif

I can at least explain my reasoning. I wanted to see how well the quest would work on later builds for compatibility purposes. Plus, at the time there was no dedicated Mac Lost Isle build.

I was able to complete the quest. The only things that I noticed that were off were the following:
  • Vires and Pols Voice (or their equivalents I should say) hopped MUCH faster.
  • The rotodisc clones eventually "curved" andd idn't stay in their true orbit.
  • A phase in the final boss ended up being easier due to enemies not returning after killing them when I died.
I guess I got lucky in the end. I was able to get the Blue Mail, Red Mail, Death Sword, and the bomberang.

I tried again on a later bulid, but I encountered a raft bug. Specifically, it didn't like to make a turn immediately after a screen transition, and some of those turns were in the first dungeon. Thus, that build was unplayable. It sounds like that bug got fixed based on Snarwin's post, though.

I've definitely noticed Vires and Pols' Voices hopping more quickly than usual, but I assumed that was intentional. Also, I think the traps may be using a different tile than the intended one, but they still look like traps so it's not that big a deal.

God, don't I ever know it. I'm gearing myself up for an Adventure of Link level death-fest, here. At least I've been pretty diligent about collecting heart pieces...

I'd hold out hope for the red mail, but considering what I've seen of this quest so far, the challenge to get it is probably nigh-impossible even with the blue mail.

Just wanted to mention that I recently discovered this quest, played it through, and had an absolute blast. Excellent work, DarkFlameWolf and Peteo. icon_thumbsup.gif

The Red Mail is easier to get than the Blue Mail! But you won't really have access to it until the tail end of the game so...

Thanks Voltglass.

I think the Plague Fortress is broken for me. None of the secrets I activated with the power out seem to have carried over to the powered-on version. icon_unsettled.gif

Allright, I understand playing Lost Isle on a wrong version if it really is the only option, or if someone wants to test if LI works on the latest build (and that's something I appreciate alot, thanks!).

Too bad LI doesn't seem to work on the latest builds. But it's no surprise as the new builds for the last 3 years have been pure crap... icon_frown.gif ...and that's the reason why I stopped making these nice little games.

well you could always make another game on the LI Build Peteo! That's pretty stable and I'm toying around with the 'idea' of doing so anyway. icon_razz.gif

Hmm, true... if we both make new games for the LI Build, it could become the version to use! icon_smile.gif

However, even though the LI build is probably way more stable than any of the new crap, it still isn't perfect and bugfree. I'm just afraid that if I start making a huge quest with the LI Build and encounter a problem, I'm not gonna get any help from the ZC developers because they have their minds set on the new builds and they probably don't even like me that much after I've been criticizing them for so long... icon_heh.gif

But I do have this incredible urge to get back to game making, so we'll see.
