I'm pretty much finished with my quest. Since there's still about a week left, I'll probably do a bonus level or something.

How are we going about submitting the finished quests? Do we just put it in the QDB?

Wow, that was fast. Good luck with the bonus level. As for submitting the quests, I'm still working it out with the rest of the staff, but I think what we'll do is just have everybody upload their quests to the database, and the submissions will all be posted to the database Monday morning.

Great progress Everyone!

Please don't worry about not getting completely finished before the deadline. I need to talk with Russ, but I think it could be nice to have an ALMOST finished catagory of quests as well as normally judged, completed quest category. In fact, we haven't really discussed judging at all yet, so if you have some ideas for categories, please let us know. For example, best graphics, best storyline, best bosses, most fun, etc... Keep up the good work!

PnW

Yeah, we probably should discuss the judging. The way I'm thinking of doing it is to have one big award "Best Overall", and allow people to vote for their two favorite quests, and hand out 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. We'll probably have a similar thing going for "Best Incomplete Entry", so if you can't finish in time, don't despair, there's still a prize for ya (probably). And like PnW said, other categories (such as best storyline, bosses, etc.) will probably be there too.

YES, finally! I finished level 3! Time to work more on the overworld!

Congrats! Good luck with that overworld now!

I'm getting closer. About half of the map is done, and I only need to add one more custom item in. Then comes finishing the design, adding the strings, testing, and tweaking. You will constantly be using different weapons for different combat scenarios. You'll have a sword that can stun enemies, and a sword that can stun multiple enemies by passing through them for example. You also have a sword that makes fire. Imagine freezing an enemy with on sword, then engulfinf it in flames with the next.

You will have a lot of health early on, so expect to see some tough enemies early on, but it won't be anything you can't handle.

Whoa, Anthus, that sounds cool. Sounds kinda like what I did for SiB, only, from the sounds of it at least, much better executed. Good luck!

About submitting, I've talked to the powers that be, and arranged something for submitting quests. When you're done with your quests, submit it to the QDB with "(2 Weeks)" at the end of the title. So for example, when I submit my quest, I would name it "Vault of Souls (2 Weeks)". All the entries marked that way will be uploaded to the QDB Monday morning (and the (2 Weeks) will be removed from the title).  I'm also adding this info to the first post.

Ok, So... when I submit my game to the QDB I just put (2 Weeks) at the end, But am I (or anyone that entered the contest for that matter) supposed to put the "( )" in the (2 Weeks) ?

Yes, keep the () there. That part of the title will be removed once the quest is accepted, but having (two weeks) lets the database staff see at a glance that it's part of the contest so they don't accidentally accept it.

I'm just going to say that my 2 week quest is nearing completion.

I have a few Overworld Screens Left, some cave/house screens, The Final Level, and then the ending.

Nice! Mine's getting close too. I had my beta tester play through it last night, and I spent most of today squashing bugs and fixing little things. The last non-big fix thing I did was make the first phase of the final boss. So, what's left?

-Adding enemies to the overworld. I know I said all enemies would be scripted, but due to time constraints, the overworld enemies might be just plain ole enemy editor enemies.

-Adding a section to the global script to make said non-scripted enemies get harder as the game progresses.

-Scripting this one thing I keep putting off (shouldn't take too long).

-Making a cave screen or two.

-Making the final boss phases 2 and 3.

-Making the final cutscenes and two endings.

-Beta testing like mad.

I work Sunday, and I get back home like an hour before the deadline, so my goal is to have this thing done and tested by Saturday night. We'll see how that works.

Gonna have to scale mine down. It should still be a good 30 minutes or so. I am only half way through the second of four (roughly) planned areas. So, It's gonna be two areas, and one small 'final' area.
