They're just way too decorated now. Compare the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd generation starters to these ones. These ones look like poop in comparison. >___>

Yes, I was immature and used the word poop.

I kinda like the more "decorated" ones. The old pokemon were so boring!

But... *sigh*... I like to avoid pig-looking pokemon, 'cause I don't really like pigs, but my fire type tradition has to continue! I just hope he doesn't evolve into something ugly (like Slaking or something). But, actual pig pokemon (like Mamoswine) look pretty nifty, imo! And, I kinda like him... if he evolves into a tank, it'll be the first time I'd have to use one during the actual story.

But, looking at this makes me wonder what the region actually is... is it a city? It has pics in the top-left of Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, then a big city. I realize that's probably a little close-minded, but just speaking into the air...

However, the more I look at this, the more excited I get! And the harder it is for me to stop looking at it! icon_razz.gif At least the guy doesn't look entirely... ridiculous. ^^'

Whoa, TS actually likes one. I did not see this coming... They've definitely started doing something right with the series. icon_razz.gif
To be honest, I do not appreciate this comment, nor that other one that you made and the one Christian made. Let me worry about what I think, as I don't think it's any of your guys' business. Any similar future comments will be written up as trolls. End of discussion.

If the region's just one big city, then... Yeah, that's kinda lame. icon_unsettled.gif

Okay, sorry. It was just a joke...

No, look at some of the other pictures. It's more than a city. They just don't want to reveal the map of it right now.

Most of the internet seems to unanimously hate the water guy. Smug lizard is getting a lot of applause and rejoice though. Pig is getting a "meh".

Internets!

Yeah. Pokemon? Why don't you just kill yourself? It only hurts for a little bit if you do it right, and really is vastly preferable to the alternative (being milked to death). As a series you've gone PAST scraping the bottom of the barrel- you've chewed through the bottom and the first layer of topsoil under THAT.

Seriously. Stop while you have some semblance of dignity left.

From a gameplay perspective the games have only become better. Yeah they haven't been too innovative, but to me it's not too big of a deal.

I do have a lot of nostalgia for Pokemon. I got Red version mere months after it came out. I assembled the R/B/Y triad and G/S soon after. But looking back, I can barely play them anymore. R/B/Y especially were buggy, imbalanced (Psychic > Everything), and graphically subpar. G/S took a lot of huge steps to solve these problems, but it can't escape system limitations. In addition, neither of these games provides statistics for moves; how are you supposed to know the difference between "Flamethrower" and "Fire Blast?"

If you look at the widely voted "best" Pokemon of R/B/Y/G/S/C, they are a small group of Pokemon with mostly boring and straightforward movesets. Body Slam was stuck on everything since there were only a few power moves and after that not much else. When you start getting into the Advance generation the new, more consistent stat calculation methods and other additions start to pick up, even if individual Pokemon are more forgettable. The expansion of entry hazards, innate Pokemon abilities (which if nothing else finally made Gengar able to avoid Earthquake), more daring type combinations, and the much awaited physical/special split create a lot more variety, allowing even old Pokemon to become great (Gyarados, anyone?).

But that's just my opinion. I am a big fan of the system behind RPG's. The system behind the newer games is almost inarguably better. Nothing's stopping you from using only the first 150 Pokemon, and you can be very successful in doing so.

EDIT: Oh, the starters. Not too bad, really. I think the otter could definitely have some cool evolutions. The grass... thing will probably be too girly. The pig could also have good evolutions. We'll see.

The 3rd gen of Pokemon starters were a little lame. You know, torchic, treecko, and mudkip. These make up for those.

The region is believed to be very "far away" from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh which makes be believe that it will take place in the americas or some island that is very historic or something.

Torchic is still one of the best starters they ever made. It just turns into a ridiculous digimon and loses all respect. I can't wait to see what these turn into. Will the otters shell become bigger? Will the pigs tail become sproingier? Will the smug guy keep being so damn smug?

Oh, and I also heavily concur with the general concesus that they should be named "Wotter" and "Pignite"

Lol at those names. See those maps there? That's how much quality, I believe, could and should be put into the "Town Map" in the games. Wait til' these guys' evolutions leak...everyone is suddenly going to change their mind about which starter to choose. Also, how the hell are there so many fan/bash images of the water guy ALREADY!?

"Wotter" is kind of goofy, but "Pignite" actually sounds like it could work.

What I want to know is how on earth so many Rule 34'd images of these guys are out already. Like, within four hours of the announcements there were already very detailed and twisted images of these little guys doing unspeakable things to each other. Very well drawn, though still... it's like wat? It doesn't bother me, but it's weird.

I'm greatly enjoying some of the fan art thus far though. I'm not gonna find it right now, but there is a fantastic one floating around somewhere that was done with colored pencils or something.

Hawaii! Seriously, I'd love to have a Pokemon game take place on the Hawaiian Islands. That would be so awesome...

You know, they really aren't that bad, once I gave it a while. The grass starter looks pretty cool, the fire starter is cute, but I'm still not liking the water starter much.

I also like how the buildings tower over you, it's a nice effect.
