Still playing Animal crossing, but going to see if I can play Final Fantasy X-2: International + Last Mission, I've just noticed that there is a translation patch out. So this might be good if I can get it going. ![]()

Starting off Pokemon X. Now I got 3 games to finish, and probably ALBW will be done first.

Got the Platinum trophy in Jak and Daxter 1. I started Jak 2, and from my experience, I'm not digging the changes they made over the original. Now it's starting to play like Ratchet and Clank. :/

I've been playing a fair amount of Age of Empires--mostly the second, but I've also been leveling my French home-city in the third. If anyone have any of the Age games, even Rise of Rome or Age of Mythology, I will be glad to play it.
I've also recently found Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader, which are quite fun.

So yeah, as somebody who was a huge fan of the first game, I know where you're coming from. Trust me. I don't exactly like the changes, but they work out. In my experience, the second game tried too hard to be dark and edgy, but it was still fun, while the third game kinda hit the happy medium between the gameplay of Jak 1 and 2, and made the story good without just intentionally trying to be, well, dark and edgy.

And from you said a while back, I can see how getting the Platinum in Jak 2 will be much harder this time around. Those blasted hidden, glitched, and missable Precursor Orbs.

So with the orbs, there's only seven that you can miss, and they're all in the final level. But yeah... Jak 2's the only game in the series I haven't 100%'d. I tried going for it on hero mode, but those races... oh lordy. Maybe one day. Jak 3 was much more fair with the orbs, despite having over twice as many.

I've played the original Jak and Daxter, and while it was a lot of fun, I was rather disappointed with the boss fights. I don't really like the bosses that stand off to the side of the arena, completely stationary, and just shoots stuff at you. (Examples: Final boss of "Gex: Deep Cover Gecko", final boss of "Crash Bandicoot", final boss of "Jak and Daxter") I much rather prefer the types of bosses that are in the arena fighting you personally. The stationary outside-arena bosses just feels like you're going through the motions rather than actually fighting a strong enemy. Do the later games in the series do the same types of boss fights, or ones where you're more directly fighting them?

Yeah I agree that the bosses really stunk in Jak and Daxter. I mean, look how you finish off the final boss in that game. Total letdown IMO. I liked the game for the collecting. That got so addicting,

The series strong point isn't really the bosses. Some of the later ones fight you more directly, some stand outside the arena. The third game has one really bad boss when it comes to standing outside and watching you, but in general, the bosses in the later games are better. Not great, but better. Kinda as a good example of what the boss fights in the second and third games are like, here's the first boss of Jak 2:

Edit: More as an aside, the very controversial newest entry to the series, The Lost Frontier, has better boss fights in that regard. They all stay within the arena and attack you head on, and have a crap ton of health you have to whittle off. The game was worse in almost every category though, so there's that.

Well, that looked a bit better. Reminded me a bit of the Egg Hornet from Sonic Adventure, only you actually get a gun.

Played and beat New Super Mario Bros U from start to finish at a friend's house yesterday. It was pretty fun. Not really too different from the Wii one, but fun nonetheless. The game pad use was fun when we got tired of actually jumping, and the final world design was cool. Not a whole lot else to say about it.
