Yoshimi: Thanks! I'll keep an eye out for an alternative grass and modify the flowers. Though, like I said, I wasn't aiming for good design; I was just simply asking how the tiles fit (or don't fit) with each other. These are only test screens as I'm still setting a lot of stuff up. It's not that I don't like criticism on my screen design, it's just not what I was looking for at the immediate moment.

Trying out another type of grass. If this one doesn't fit either, can I ask what's making it not fit in people's eyes? Just so I know what to look for in some grass. :3

Also, note that I didn't convert all the object's grounds to the new type yet, so that's why it may look a little funky at the base of the mountain or at the edge of them. Please pay it no mind; I'll convert it over properly once I have a grass tile that I like.

Spacemandan, I definitely like the new grass better. The SD3 grass looked odd with those light patches.

I like how people do such creative things to the nes graphics. Those screens look very colorful and cool. It's nice to see screens like that, with colorful nes GFX.

SpaceManDan: Looks good to me. Though I think it looked better before with the SD3 grass. Though I'm not as picky as most people. Either one you choose it looks fine, the shadows look fine as well.

Side note:
One of the first screens I didn't go detail happy with. This is the entrance to a secret dungeon which you can access only after you beat my quest. Uses basic pure GFX.

Dan, that grass matches better. The texture has smaller branches (?) of grass and that blends better with the tiny leaves on the trees and the compressed texture on the water.

At first I thought it looked similar to Joe123's Fort Knights. But that's life, eventually all screens will look alike. As for the screen though, I think you nailed it. Good open space, no interrupting tiles in the flow. Balanced colors, why on Earth would you hate it?

But, I can sort of tell you're saying you hate it, for a motivation boost if people do like it. Drop that, there's no need.

At least people comment on your stuff. I hardly get any comments whenever I post something regardless of its quality, but I don't complain about it to the point that I feel like I have to make everyone feel bad. Seriously- grow up. People might be their own worst critics at whatever they enjoy doing, but you're just looking for people to take pity on you, and that's sad. You're taking advantage of people's good nature over screenshots. Over effing screenshots. Stop trying to seek approval through the lowest means possible and just enjoy ZC, that's what it's there for.

It seems the best way to elicit the response you are looking for would be with something like:

"This screen feels empty to me, can anyone give me advice or critique to help me make it better?" -- This would not seem like you are asking for pity but rather asking for critique. Do you know what I mean?


Personally, I think it looks good as a Gameboy screen, unfortunately I don't have any useful advice about the screenshot itself.
