Personally, I usually use competitive rules (3 stock, 8 minute time limit, no items, some stages banned). Not saying items are bad, but some of them are so broken (Dragoon, Golden Hammer, etc.) that it isn't even fair.
Russ: Smash Balls on? Hope you don't run into a Sonic.

To avoid a Marth / Link / Zelda Final Smash, just try to do a Wavedash. You won't wavedash obviously, but it's the same buttons, anyway. I'm surprised how often it works.
I'm also considering taking up Snake, if only for his A moves alone. I haven't used his B moves in a while.
I haven't heard Wavedash in years! How does that work again?
