It's easy as pie to unlock everyone. Just play 1-stock stamina matches with 1% with a flower on your head in fast mode. Couldn't be easier. (Except to read GameFaqs to see which special levels you need to be on and as who to unlock certain things and people.)

So let me ask this. What's everybody's favorite stage? Mine's Spear Pillar, with Pictochat and New Pork City in second and third.

Spear Pillar is my absolute most hated stage. It randomly flips the stage upside down, mirrors it, attacks you with lasers, etc. Basically, its just an unfair stage in my mind. I can't think fast enough to be able to play the stage when it messes with your controls. Left should mean left regardless of how the stage is oriented.

Agreeing with Alestance on the stages that have gimpable, hard/impossible to predict traps. Also don't like Mario Bros. Characters that have trouble killing horizontaly suck there, and the items kill so early the winner ends up being the one that the enemies showed up the closest to.

Spear Pillar is a tad annoying. I don't mind it as much if it's not a one on one, but I'd still rather not play there.
Really, I just do FD all the way, I'd say. I prefer one on one matches, and that's just the ideal place anyway, in a sort of "Bioforming" fashion. It makes me want to play on it, rather than me searching for a perfect arena. Everyone else is fine with it as well, seeing as how Brawl has a stage editor, yet nobody seems to care enough to bother making a new stage of a single block with none of FD's under-edge trickery.
