get rid of the Deathbos? i just avoided them. what troubled me the most during the escape part was the time limit, not the Deathbos.

yeah, the escape is a bit hectic. But you CAN get through it without dying once! There is a easy route through the village and a hard route through. Try breaking left through some trees to get to the easy route. But once you hit the beach again, its the same for both routes. The awesome arrows really come into their own during the escape sequence with the Deathbos.
Also, I found that the escape sequence is ultimately the deal breaker for a perfect 0 death run. But I've managed to do it!

I tried to avoid them, but I would inevitably catch the corner of one and it would kill me. I was probably in a little too much of a hurry. 10 seconds per screen is actually a decent amount of time. Each run down the mountain was easier as I cleared out more enemies.

I exaggerated a bit.....it was probably only 19 tries. ;-)

So i beat level 3, and took a break from the game for a while. Now i'm going to be back playing it again to finish it.

Not that it is 2 big of a deal, but for some reason i can't remember what the boss was in level 3. It's bugging me that i can't remember. If somebody just could remind me who the level 3 boss was, that would be great. Or if you want to just give me a hint, without giving it away to everyone else, it will prob trigger my memory. thanks!

Hi everyone,
I'm stuck in the "Castle Level". I can't make it to the fourth floor (Is that where the ladder is ?) . I don't know how to reach the "switch button" that could make me access the stairs to go up to the the fourth floor.
Is that clear enough, or do I have to develop more ?

Thanks.

P.s.: I tried to look for an existing answer in this topic but I have problems downloading the whole topic (I couldn't have the replies that have been posted after 2007).

Finally beat the game with 122 deaths, and 23 hours. I'm a good player its just that I like to use the fast foward button a lot and sometimes run into trouble and death before I can release the button. With that said here are my pros and cons.

Pros:
* I love the huge overworld map and how its divided into six sections.
* I love how each section has a level, a triforce, a shield, bomb upgrades etc.
* I love the new warp system in which you have to reach a certain point and unlock the spikes in order to warp there.
* Loved the graphics and the music (some)
* loved the dificulty of and dungeon layout (some)
* loved the cut scenes (some)

Cons:
* hated how If I did a F6 quick save it would sometimes take me to a place I haven't explored yet.
* hated how some of the dungeons where way too easy. Level 5, Triforce dungeon 5 and 6 and oh yeah the Master Dome was way to easy...I'm seroius. All you have to do is go in and out of the rooms and leave 1 guy left alive.
* hated how some of the cut scenes had to repeat themselves if you died. Last boss was like this.
* hated how some music just repeated over and over and over until it gets on your nerves.
* AND MOST OF ALL WHERE ARE THE USE OF ALL THE INVENTORY LOST ISLE BUILD OFFERS?

I accidently played DEMO EX on Lost Isle build and used the cheatcode. I was amazed at all the new feature it had to offer. Sword Spins, Quake Hammer, Naybru's Love, Din's Fire etc. I was so looking forward to a game that feature all of these. (IS THERE ONE?)
So I was dissapointed when I played Lost Isle all the way through and got only a level 3 sword, level 3 armour, no hammer, no hookshot, no super bombs, no flippers, no boots etc. I liked the Sword Spin but there should have been more to this game. You should make a second quest and add those Items.

Over all I give it a 35/40 and that is only for the time and effort you put into it. So once again, is there a quest out there that uses all of the features offered in Lost Isle Build?

If Akkabus makes the dungeons, I'll make the overworld and we'll have a super-fancy quest! icon_biggrin.gif

I agree with your pros, and I think most of your cons are valid. However, I have to comment on this particular con that I quoted. As a beta tester for Lost Isle, I will share a little knowledge. The quest was originally built in 1.92, so it wasn't aimed primarily at using the 2.5 features. The quest was switched over to the Lost Isle build due to the inability to fix certain bugs in 1.92, mainly one involving the Royal Melody in Level 3 not working, if I recall correctly. If you ever notice, this and Origin are the only quests by DarkFlameWolf that use a version made after the 1.92 builds. I believe that this quest is the only one by Peteo that uses something after 1.92 as well. While the quest happens to use some new features introduced in 2.5, those were ones that happened to fit into the quest well. This quest was never intended to be used a showcase of new features, nor was it intended to use most items that ZC offers. The quest was meant to be unique it its own sort of way that fits what the quest is all about, based on story and original planning. Anything else, including special features and items included, was completely dependent on that original planning. If it didn't seem to fit, it wouldn't be included. In addition to that, any feature that wouldn't be considered stable enough in the Lost Isle build wouldn't be used. No quest should feel obligated to use any particular feature or item simply because it is available. The quest is pretty large and already provides plenty, so to ask for more seems like asking for quite a lot, perhaps even more than what anybody has ever given. Just my cents on it all.

As for other quests that use the Lost Isle build, I don't know if anybody else is using it. Most of the focus these days are on the more recent 2.5 builds, as they are much more stable especially for a lot of features that Lost Isle didn't use.

When Wolfie and I started making Lost Isle, the idea was to make a good solid game, not a ZC feature show-off.

I mean I love some of the "new" items as well, like the Hookshot. But Lost Isle works just fine without all the new and fancy items, and I guess that was kind of DFW's point to show people that you can make good quests with just the "basic" items. You are actually the first person disappointed with Lost Isle that I know of. I really thought more people would dislike the quest because it is so Metroid-ish.

Oh and Wolfie, who is Akkabus?? I'm here if you need a dungeon creator! icon_wink.gif

I just played and finished Lost Isle after a long while (22 deaths, 16 hours) and I am still proud of our baby.

Check out Akkabus's quests on PureZC Peteo, his overworlds are nothing to write home about, but his dungeon design is impeccable.

Glad you still enjoy what we have wrought together. icon_smile.gif

Looks like someone has developed a new love interest... O_o

Anyways, of course I still enjoy it, I hope you do as well. LI is a 2 year old quest, but still almost every day I get to read comments like "it's one of the best 2D Zeldas ever" and it makes me feel really proud. I could almost start making quests again.... too bad we'll never see a new ZC at this pace. Comfort me, Wolfie. Sniff... icon_frown.gif

I've watched the final boss fight for the 5th time, and the more I watch it, the more epic it is. Lost Isle truly is better then anything Nintendo could even dream of making. I love the escape scene though, just brilliant. What was the music playing there?

I know, when Morlach rises up from the lava to reveal his true form, I have to keep kicking myself and think: wow! This is STILL a Zelda game! It almost feels unreal that such an enemy could exist in the Zelda universe, yet somehow we've managed to make it work and still feel like its STILL Zelda and not some other series.
As for the escape music, its something from a Duke Nukem 3D add-on way back in the annals of time that I picked up.

You and Peteo should seriously consider doing a second one. While Akkabus makes good dungeons, his dungeons are a lot different then the ones in Lost Isle. His are more generic and stuff, which isn't really a bad thing, but I liked the Lost Isle dungeons better. The dungeons in Lost Isle were just so perfectly put together and every dungeon was a work of genius. For example, level 2 was just perfectly planned out; everything worked so well and it was fantastic. Level 1 was great because it moved along so smoothly and always made you want to play more because of the way it was set up. Also, each dungeon had some sort of gimmick which made the gameplay even more brilliant.
