Oh, that's good. Now you can send $2000 that way to me, if you get any farther
Inflation's running wild these days... O_o
But anyways, I got back with the certificate. Next round's tomorrow at 2:00.
I played a few rounds on the store's Wii, and I let my sister try it, showing her the controls. She's like "DUDE, YOU GOTTA WIN THIS TOURNAMENT!!!"
I sure hope I do.

so does that mean you're still in?
Well, I was, but I was knocked out the second round.
Well, I lost in the first round, but not for lack of skill. Idiot guy who set up the competition had items turned on. Needless to say, I got my butt kicked because the guy wouldn't stop picking up the items and using them against me. Smash Balls were turned on, and he got it, but he never got to use it, cuz I kept knocking it out of him. He got the Dragoon, though.
So yeah, I say it was rigged, but oh well.

My verdict in a nutshell: it's not too different from Melee. Just a few new characters and game modes, some graphical improvements, and some tweaks.
I am disappointed with the controls. -_-; They've made it impossible to use the D-pad for character movement on every controller but the bare-bones Wiimote. I originally thought I'd like the Wiimote for Brawl, but the sparseness of the controller and having to use D-pad up for jumping (and worse, double-jumping) is just too awkward for me.
I guess I should have known better.... Nintendo has this annoying attachment to analog sticks. Any game that uses it, tends to use it exclusively. Most of them don't even let you use the D-pad for name entry, bleh.
The new characters I've tried so far are fun, though it'll take some getting used to. Gliding is a strange new beast.
Final Smashes are interesting, but they add yet another element of luck that I'm sure the "hardcore" players will eventually reject in tournament matches. But it does feel very good to use one to win a 4-player match with a triple KO.
The graphics are nice, but they suffer greatly if you use an HD TV without an HD cable. In fact, in that case the Brawl characters look inferior to the ones in Melee.
To sum it up: I'll definitely play Brawl, but I doubt I'll be sinking $50 into a controller to use at other people's houses. I'll just bring my GC controller, and otherwise wait until I have my own Wii.

It's a link to some backstory to the subspace Emissary which it tells you only to look at once you have finished the SE part of brawl.
How useful, then, that it is not yet been released here -_-
