The translation's off. It's very non-specific - a new strong enemy, or new strong enemies. Nothing as significant as "nemesis." There's no mention of a new Link, either, but it does say there are new puzzles. Or maybe a new mystery. Again, not very specific.

Well, even new enemies I'm okay with. But if it's "new strong enemies," that sounds like bosses, which is pretty unexciting news, we always get new bosses. :P

I just hope they don't have anything exclusively displayed on the Wii U Gamepad. Mario Kart 8 only has the map available on the gamepad for instance.

Are you saying you wouldn't like an inventory and dungeon map system displayed on the Wii U gamepad so you don't have to keep pausing throughout the game to view your items and maps?

Honestly, I'm kinda with Franpa there. If/When I pick this up, I'll be playing with either a Wiimote+Nunchuck or a Wii U Pro controller. I'd really rather not use the tablet controller (I really don't like that thing), and I'd like to not miss out on anything but not using it.

Now that said, a new strong enemy could be cool. I'm hoping that means a new villain, but I guess we'll see.

He meant that he would not want to lose important game mechanics when playing on a different controller. As franpa said, if you are not playing with the gamepad, then you have no access to the map on your HUD. Imagine if you can only view your life bar on the gamepad. :P

It will probably work like Wind Waker HD: menu will appear on Gamepad if you're using it; on pause screen if you're not. I doubt they will make anything that will only work on the Gamepad. Putting the MK8 map there was probably just a "Hey, we can throw this little unnecessary thing on there as a bonus".

I see there are still comments about Link's gender. What's the point of changing Link's gender? There's no real point. I also expect Ganondorf to return, honestly. He's pretty overdue for a return.

Edit: Regarding the gamepad, I think they'll do what Wind Waker HD did. Anouma said the first thing they wanted in WWHD was to implement a "gamepad-only" mode. With that in mind, I think they'll want to implement a "gamepad-only" mode with this game too.

(Boy there sure isn't any irony whatsoever in a bunch of guys being the ones saying that women don't need any form of representation or inclusiveness as a protagonist in a series that has only ever had a male protagonist)

When I said that, I mostly wondered why people care so much, rather than be mad that Link isn't a defined gender.  I really don't want to get into a gender/sex forum battle right now, but I feel if Link has always been a male, what reason would there be to change that?

No, that is fine but only if it is optional/if I play with the Wii U Gamepad. If I play with the Wii u Pro Contorller or similar device, I want it to show everything on the TV and never, ever refer to the gamepad.

Another example: Wii U Sports Club Golf, it only shows the Power Gauge of your swings on the Wii U gamepad. You're going to play with wiimote or Pro Controller? Look at the damn gamepad and not your huge TV if you want to play well!

What's the point of changing Link's gender? There's no real point.

Variety? What was the point in changing Link's look to an expressive, cel-shaded toon in Wind Waker? There was no "point" to taking Zelda in that direction... well, I guess to show the power of the new hardware by having clear, distinct facial expressions, which happened to work better on a large, flat face... shaddup. >:{

Anyway, there's nothing lore-breaking about having a female Link so I honestly don't care if they do or don't (I'm pretty sure they're keeping him male though). I'm all for variety as long as it's done well.

I'm just wondering when we're going to get black Link.

To me, what they do with the character doesn't matter as long as they stay true to what makes Link, well... Link. In this case I don't feel that neither race or sex adds or removes anything from the character, and I wouldn't mind them mixing things up a bit. I will probably always prefer the original kind-of-male Link though, but only for nostalgic reasons.

It's because Z1 Link was best Link Migo~ Simple design, simple purpose :3.

But really, genderbending only really works if it serves an actual purpose, other than "Just because I can."  If there was a gender choice since the beginning, or at least early in the series, like with Pokemon (starting with Crystal), then it's clear that the character is a mere avatar of the player, and having the two gender options let's them represent themselves better.  But if there isn't, it's clear the character has an intended role, and just randomly switching the race or gender of a character, just for the lols, is extremely silly.  Like, suddenly, Mario is a black French man with a crazy stache, just because variety.  That's no valid reason to do such a thing to what has clearly been defined for like, ever.

Link is an extension of the player, a "link" between them. I believe that's been said by someone from Nintendo. So why not allow for multiple options?
