I think it's compensation for the fact that all the best Pokemon in the first generation were Fire-types.

I have to say waiting for the game to reload when you open each little town gate is ridiculous, hope that's not in the real game

They did that, I'm sure, because not all the routes are connected in the demo.  It's more like teleporting to "rooms" rather them all being a part of a house, so to speak.

For those that got their hands on it.  Good job.  For the good boys and girls that are waiting until the 18th, you're going to love this game.  Honestly, it's the best Pokemon game I've ever played.  There's loads of little changes that just add up.  Leech Life for example has 80BP now.  The Pokemon Snap-like feature is amazing, and Team Skull are just 90's rap villains.  I went with Rowlet and named him Cedric, and I couldn't be happier.  It's a really great way to drown my sorrows about what happened last night...

So, Alolan Marowak is the coolest thing ever.  I spent like 4 hours farming for a Thick Club, and I'm really glad I did.  Think of Chandelure, but a Physical Sweeper with really high defense.

 

I just got the Ghost Z-Move, and my Pokemon are in the level 40's.  This game reminds me a lot of the Orange Islands in the Pokemon anime, and to me, that's a good thing.

Decidueye's Z-Move is... hilarious actually. The new Ultra Beasts are something and... I still can't believe that Alolan Diglett/Dugtrio exists.

I just saw a video about the physical Z-Ring... I can't imagine anyone over 10 using that huge chunk of flashing plastic. Of course, I've never been into anything Pokemon branded outside the main video games, except I think the card game looked cool I just don't have the patience to deal with random card packs.
