QUOTE(DarkFlameWolf @ Jul 29 2004, 02:45 PM)
EDIT: Okay, I've update the quest. I've submitted it to PureZC, and it is only a matter of time before they get it updated. Here are the changes due to complaints about the quest:
- Replaced the 50 rupee piece on Goron Isle with a 200 rupee piece so to help alleviate rupee fears.
- Added two new raft paths on the overworld:
-------> Raft path from the small desert island southeast of snow island to the lower base of the island with purple trees and a link statue just southwest of waterfall island. This better connects east and west on the northern overworld.
-------> Raft path from the small island left of Town island from the third dock, there is a new raft branch that leads DIRECTLY to forest island. You can skip desert island altogether, but you'd still need a super bomb to reach level 2.
- Decreased prices of super bombs and magic shields in ALL shops. This should stop pricing complaints. I am not going any lower.
-------> Magic Shield Prices - 320 to 275 / 250 to 200 / 140 to 120
-------> Super Bomb prices - 60 to 50 / 50 to 40
- Added around 6-8 more free Super Bombs on the overworld, all hidden under bushes. (the only odd one out is the one you get from the bomb lady after level 8.

Note to Happyman: Looks like you may have to update your walkthrough.

Updated (not the walkthrough, the quest). icon_razz.gif

As for that walkthrough: Shouldn't be that bad. The prices are easy to update and I think only the second raft path really matters. Should be no problem to change. As for those new hidden super bombs, I'll just include a short clause about that somewhere.

Wolfie, I meant the boss key. And it's that pyramid trigger. I boomeranged the crystal ball one over the chasm already.

gotcha, you'll need to fire your wand into the mirror-like thingy over the ladder gap. That reflected magic will bounce off the mirror and into the switch. That'll open the boss key chest for you.

damn, thought I tried that. I didn't know what that mirror like thingy was. It looked funky and I tried to work it over too. Guess I never shot the wand from that angle.

Anyway, I've heard the good and bad. Tons of good - too much too mention. I like this better than HDDC in that I had to visit the forums a bunch in HDDC - some obscure things in my mind. This was better to figure out. So the good news was that I didn't have to resort to forum help - the bad news is that I never knew you had to have 1 extra key from every dungeon. So I've completed 7 levels and only have 5 keys. WAAH!!! I'll never find those other 2. Have to steal from teh master dome. I thought the game play was quite difficult, but then again, I did 7 levels with just a wooden sword and basic shield. So it's doable. I just now got the 2 upgrade swords. That would have helped quite a bit..

Some of the gripes about the raft system were somewhat valid, but I'd rather you err on the side of scattershot than force feeding our next moves to us. Good idea - maybe just a little refined next time. But keep em coming - your quests are very enjoyable...

One other piece of criticism - too much reliance on the hammer. Played the game non-linearly - didn't get the hammer until very late. But you need that to get many of the magic upgrades, levels B & C, heart containers, and other places. Busted my azz getting through Lvl C only to have my prize blocked by those smiley faces.

Go to the witch's shop and give it to her. There's your true reward.

too much reliance on the hammer? I think not. Half of those magic upgrades aren't needed since magic puzzles aren't used much in the quest. (that is, unless you're a magic abuser, then it plain sucks. lol) And you only needed the hammer to complete certain rupee reward puzzles, levels B and C, and level 9. And to get certain secrets/upgrades on the overworld. Other than that, the hammer function wasn't used nearly as much as in HDDC.

Made some changes, this will be in effect when they update the IotW quest on PureZC. (as of this posting, they haven't done it yet!)

- Added a new mini-dungeon underwater near Town Island.
- Added another raft path.
- Prevented people from entering Master Dome until after acquiring level 2 bracelet from level 8, thus preventing people from going to Master Dome for extra keys.
- Changed some shops around and made the Volcano Island shop sell normal keys for 500 rupees a pop! If you want to be so cheap as to not take the time to find a missing key for level 8 or whatever, you must shell out 500 rupees for one. This way, you can never get stuck. Pay out 500 rupees or go back and find a key you missed, you pick the lesser of the two evils.
- Lessened enemies or put them further away from all raft ports.

Hope that was enough.

Excellent. Finally beat it with all but the two hidden items
*Fire Boomerang
*Golden Arrow

Now, can I have any more specific hints for either? So far I have "you need the flippers to get the fire boomerang"
didn't really help much :-p
thanks

Golden Arrow: It is in a room that you do not want to stay long, or you might have to do a lot of retracing your path. Ielen managed to find it with this hint. icon_razz.gif

Fire Boomerang: Nothing more than you need the flippers. Think a bit. What random place in the quest could DFW placed the Fire Boomerang that would only require the flippers?

here's a more vital clue to the fire boomerang:
Note the locations of all 3 pillars that lead to levels A-C. Find the rough general area that is in the center of the triangle those three locations create. Search around there.

thanks for the hint on the boomerang. that I can follow.

The golden arrow one is really way too vague for me to figure it out.

Go back to Level 9 to look for the golden arrow. Keep that hint in mind. Remember: A LOT of retracing your path.
