[The Satellite]

Book Three has indeed been very much fantastic so far. I like Book One enough despite its sloppy pacing, and I did highly enjoy Book Two even though some have criticized it and I do kinda think the finale was more deus ex machina than the first, but Book Three has had hardly any troubles at all in my opinion and has honestly matched the standard set by The Last Airbender. I mean really, this is just about as good as The Last Airbender. As for how episode 11 ended...

I swear to God, I'll be pissed if they offed Tenzin. I mean if they actually did, it's great that the show had that much balls to shove a "take that" to the standards of so-called "kids programming," and of course me getting pissed would just mean the show did its job of getting me attached to the character, but holy hell please don't kill Tenzin. However, I feel like Zaheer has too much respect for airbending culture to just kill Tenzin like that, and Tenzin isn't really a "world leader," which is what the Red Lotus is going after, so I think he'd be safe... I hope.

Well, being someone who just powered through seasons 2 and caught up in season 3... I feel like I want to jump in and voice my opinions about some stuff.

 

First of all, I really don't get all the hate for season 2.  I thought it, for the most part, was definitely better than season 1.  Granted, I understand some of the complaints were basically that some stuff was rather frustrating just because you had to wait a week or two... only for an episode to end up mostly focusing on romance.  So, I guess what I can say is that it's not that bad binge watching it.  Even watching through season 3, I have to say that the whole story about the origin of the avatar is probably one of the best moments in Korra to date.

 

That being said... season 2 had a lot of missteps - primarily the ending.  The "Unavaatu" goliath, Korra getting deus ex machina powers, Jinora doing... whatever it was that she did that didn't really seem necessary. It started off silly, then just kept getting worse and worse.  I feel like there were also a few plot holes.  The most notable thing I have in my mind is going into the spirit world.  Am I crazy, or wasn't it established in The Last Airbender that you shouldn't move a body when they go into the spirit world?  I thought they said that if they were moved, the spirit would have a hard time getting back to the body?  Also, they kept trying to go to the southern portal to break into the spirit world.  Could they not have gone to the northern portal?  It seems like it would have been guarded less, so it would have been easier to enter.  And they had to have known that it was open because Unalaq needed it to be.  (And if it wasn't, then there wouldn't have been any issue.)

 

Season 3 is ending up pretty good, though.  The villains are interesting to me partially because they seem to have decent motives, and they aren't just the planning types like Amon and Unalaq.  The romance seems to actually be subplots to the main plot, only taking up a small amount of the scenes.  The animation has been great, and everything is moving along well.  The show isn't dragging its feet at all it seems.  Hopefully it can keep this momentum going!

 

So... good stuff overall.  I feel like the first two seasons still get a bit too much hate, but season 3 is definitely blowing both out of the water. (Har har.)

Now that I'm all caught up*, I'm pretty dang excited for S4.

 

*S2 was awesome as a binge watch (or at least everything from Wan's backstory onward was awesome). I wouldn't really say that S3 is better or worse, but rather that it takes a totally different direction. But it's a welcome direction and it was a thoroughly enjoyable season the whole way through.

I'm usually wary of time skips, but it looks like it's taken the story to an interesting place. I'm excited to see how everything works out.

Just watched the episode. Thoughts:

So, overall, the plot is rather interesting and it made me wonder about what will happen next. There's this new character called Kuvira (or something like that), and she's trying to unite the earth kingdom and getting rid of the earthbending bandits. For some reason, she seems to assert a feeling in me that would suggest that she's evil, though I'm not sure if that is truly the case. Also, Korra appears in the end of the episode, and the only thing I could say was: "What is she doing!?". xD. Basically, she's in this bending arena fighting an earthbender, hurting herself in the process, and I can't understand why she is doing this in the first place. She's supposed to be the Avatar, except she's trying to conceal her identity for some reason. Does anyone have thoughts on what Korra is doing exactly and why she is doing it, and also thoughts on the new character, Kuvira?

I was a little disappointed by the episode, but in a sort of suspenseful, it's-okay-because-it's-an-exposition sort of way. I probably got myself a little overhyped.

I think Korra is just tired of her Avatar duties. And she feels as if she's no longer needed. The Airbenders fulfill her role in peacekeeping, and so it looks like she just wants to get away from that and make a life for herself not as an Avatar.

Pretty good new episode.  Wish there'd been another, but then again, just happy it started up again so soon.  Mako looks really weird as a young adult, though.

I don't think it's that Korra is tired of her Avatar duties.  She feels usurped.  Replaced.  Think about it, she doesn't really feel needed anymore with the Air Nation watching over, especially with how they talked to her after Jinora's ceremony.  That, and she probably spent a lot of time in therapy to get up and about again, and to use her bending again.  Korra isn't one to uh, sit still or be patient with things.  She's hot-headed and probably went crazy with the recovery process.  I do agree though- she's probably trying to forget about her duties.  I wonder if it has to do in particular with how most of the villains have been specifically hunting her down, so obscurity would also be best since she wouldn't be as much a target.

Yeah, I agree, Korra seems to be tried of doing what she's supposed to do as an Avatar and at the same time perhaps feels replaced. Hopefully, though, that won't last long and she'll be back as the Avatar soon enough.  Even then, there's a lot of room for Nick to do a lot of things, so we'll all have to wait and see.

I'm really liking where this is going. All the characters feel really well fleshed out, even if it's weird seeing them grown up. Really, I don't have any complaints at all. I'm curious to see what happened to Kuvira; she seems totally different from last season(she's not new by the way David, she was in book 3, albeit in the background most of the time). And also, Meelo managed to top Be the Leaf. That's pretty damn impressive. Really, he'd be right at home in a certain other show.
