I finally reached Max Life and Max Mana icon_smile.gif. And I found a cave system on my world that goes WAAY down, and I'm hoping it connects to Hell, so I can start farming Hellstone. I see lava already, so...

Now that I have a capable hard drive, I might start playing this too.

I'm surprised I haven't noticed this topic. I played this game quite a lot over the summer since my friend got into it. More recently though the game hasn't been working, so I'll probably have to reinstall it once the new patch is released, which look pretty great so far.

Has anybody ever had this problem in Terraria? I discovered this on the PureZC world last time we played. Basically, there is a bug at the east edge of the map where it is completely empty from top to bottom. There was no such issue on the west edge, though. This problem never happened on any of my single player only games, and this is the only map I ever played on multiplayer.

That has a tendency to happen in multiplayer mode. The bounds of the map are not defined right to the client, but are still otherwise valid coordinates to both the client and the server, so even if you fall into the void and die, the game still counts it as a real death. The simple solution is to look before you jump off the edge for now; the 1.1 update, whenever it hits, is supposed to fix this.

I abused the hell out of that a while back.

Yep, you're 100% right, as I just tested the multiplayer map on single player. What was the void is now filled with what should have been there. I learned elsewhere (forgot the source) that this problem specifically happens with medium sized maps on multiplayer.

Update: Here is our map so far.

So, same problem as Minecraft? empty "voids" or large areas when playing online. Except in Minecraft you don't die, you simply get stuck until you log out and back in to reload the environment (because the client thinks your stuck falling so directional movements do naught).

There's a Minimap mod which can also act as a full fledged map, it shows the voids appearing as you explore. Looks to be some kind of memory corruption issue.

Well, I played 30 minutes or less last night. Hopefully I'll be on tomorrow to play with you guys, my tower is no where near complete yet. It's been so long since I last played on the server, and I don't have much materials to work with. But with the map I guess I can find some good resources now.

Awesome, there's new materials to work with! I so can't wait for this update icon_biggrin.gif. I bet this means, however, that all of our old worlds will be obsolete...:C.

The map linked to in my previous post has been updated. Sephiroth and Koh did a lot of terraforming, thus the flat area on the surface that previously was much more rugged. I contributed a bit to it as well, but I was mostly working on other things.

Thanks for updating the map, Nate, it looks great icon_smile.gif. And it shows my sparkly cake house is small...SMALL! Vertical expanding will be ACTIVATED sooner or later...

Map

So, I will have the server back up tomorrow afternoon. I wonder what the plan will be? Plenty of resources on the map still, and I know we will get sick of playing well before they run out. I have found a use for almost everything so far, one of the few exceptions being dirt blocks. Even the iron makes the chains for chandeliers being put up in the right places. Then again, I have so many excess slime gels too, as useful as they are.

On another note, I noticed that when creating an artificial underground glowing mushroom farm (ours is just below where the cavern music begins to play, at about 50 feet below), while the mushrooms grow, we never got the big ones to be made, even with the right height clearance. I wonder if the game just doesn't allow it outside of the default places, or that it has to be done below a certain depth, lower than where ours is.

The giant mushrooms will grow, they just don't have a very high chance of it happening. I think in all the time I've spent trying to set up mushroom farms I've had a large mushroom grow only 3 times. icon_mad.gif
