Wow. The trailer makes it look... really good... although that WAS my philosophy all along, it's still reassuring. It's pretty neat that Zelda plays more of role that "get captured, get saved" this time. I want to know who that guy carrying off Zelda was though... Probably a new villain, but that train looked like it had Ganon's face on it. Also, I love that song! I've watched the trailer multiple times just to hear it. Hmm, conspiracy time. The background of the video looks like a map. Think it's the new Hyrule?

Go to Zelda Wiki. Somehow, people got a demo of the first 90 minutes and reviewed it. I only read the first ten (I was curious, but not too curious to spoil it all), but I can assure you, Ganon plays no part in it. Or, at least, no part yet. The might pull a TP stunt and have Ganon behind it like a puppeteer.

Oh, and if you like the music, go to Zelda Reorchestrated (ZREO). They did a wonderful version of that song.

This game has got me interested. From looking at a few new screenshots, it looks WAY batter than Phantom Hourglass. No more Temple of the Ocean King. icon_smile.gif That tower looks like a major improvement.

As much a Ganondorf fan as I am, I thought that worked in TP. But that'll only work once; if Ganon's involved at all, it better be something new.

Spirit Tracks is looking a little better, now. However, well-produced or not, a gimmick can still be ill-advised. Perhaps it'll turn out like Wind Waker: well-executed, but the original idea was still problematic from start to finish.

Technically, Ganon's been a puppeteer more than once, though. What about LTTP?

I don't think so. If you recall, Ganon has been eroding at the bottom of the ocean for about 100 years. :}

What gave you the idea that ST isn't a direct sequel to PH? I've played the game, and I'm not allowed to confirm everything, but I'm just wondering out of curiosity... did someone ever tell you that it takes place a hundred years after PH? Again, I've played through the game, sure, and I know if it is or isn't, but I just want to know if anyone actually said this, cause I highly doubt it... icon_razz.gif

Nintendo themselves revealed that it takes place about 100 years after Wind Waker/PH.

Thankyehverymuch icon_biggrin.gif (for writing purposes of course icon_smile.gif )

Anyways, I can tell you guys that this is a fantastic game, and while I haven't decided on a rating yet, I'm currently looking at a 8/10, but it might hop up to a 9...

In my personal opinion, this game is a lot better than PH, even though it has something I guess you could call similar to the Temple of the Ocean King, but again, imo, it's not as annoying as it once was. Along with that, I can't stress enough how much I loved the train. It's fantastic! I think I might like it more than the King of the Red Lions actually. This is a game to look forward to, but seeing as we're in a Zelda-based forum, that's pretty much a given, right?

I especially like the story so far. Especially to what happens to Princess Zelda.

Oh ya, I forgot about that. I always sort of considered him not to be so much of a puppeteer there, since for the whole game, you still know about Ganon and that he's trying to escape from the Dark World. You just don't know that he actually is Agihmnon.

Let me guess, the Tower of Spirits it the Ocean King type level, right? Is it better than the Temple of the Ocean King?

And can you actually explore the overworld? Having to stay on train tracks seems like a big limit on exploration.

Let me guess, the Tower of Spirits it the Ocean King type level, right? I can't answer that... at least not by mentioning the name... but let's just say that you are indeed onto something icon_razz.gif Eh, screw it, it's not like anyone's gonna leak this out to Kotaku: Yes. Is it better than the Temple of the Ocean King? Yes, I thought so at least.

And can you actually explore the overworld? Having to stay on train tracks seems like a big limit on exploration. That, I can't really confirm or deny, but I will tell you that there is on-foot gameplay outside of dungeons. Don't know if that helps :/ Again though, keep in mind that the game is called Spirit Tracks. They might not stay in one spot... icon_razz.gif And you've got a stylus... so if you ever run into this problem, just draw yourself some new ones. Gah, it's hard to speak in secrets icon_frown.gif

Migo, watching the trailer, I got the impression this was Phantom Hourglass all over again, except with a train instead of a boat. The boomerang seems the same, the grappling hook has turned into a whip, and the Phantom seems to be controlled the same way you control them in PH's battle mode. On top of that, the dungeons seem to be as graphically... bland... as they were in PH. Now, I enjoyed PH, but not enough for a second play-through, and this doesn't make me feel all that pleased with Spirit Tracks, despite the interesting storyline. (My family has financial issues as well, so buying a $30 game is a bit of an ordeal for me.)

So, Migo, can you swear upon your honor that this game is better than Phantom Hourglass? icon_wink.gif
