Obviously I'm having major trouble getting through the Lost Woods or else I wouldn't be here.

That sounds serious! That's why did I open ZQuest and looked at the problem instantly. But I didn't find it. I looked at all the warps and side warps of those areas that make you go through the same or almost same screen many times, and all were correct.
Are you playing in 2.10.0?
sasja:
You should have spoken with him even before the second dungeon... at least you could have got a free superbomb as well as a shop that sells them cheap... Goron City is at the southern middle, just south from the screen where you continue at saving or dying on Mt.Death. Just go all the way west, south the vines then all the way east til the entrance.

Go South on the Western-most path.
Go West 3x's.
Go North 4x's. This should put you in the slashable bush maze.
Go immediately back South. This should put you on the screen with a path running N/S like the one immediately north of the entrance to Lost Woods.
Go back North, but to the right of the trees not using the path and you will be in the mainly black screen.
Let me know if you've got it the same as me. There may be an easier way to recreate the problem, but I'm able to do it every time using these directions.

I see! You stepped on a blank warp. I already removed it and I sent the update in. Now I also realized the same error in an other similar screen, but I won't send another update til much more bugs are unearthed. So thank you for finding this bug's strange behaviour.
So, since it was a blank warp, it put you on a layer screen... But leaving that layer screen should have put you back to the screen from where you entered it! Ending up in the intro again was extreme strange... Well, the bad warps are removed by now, so all seems well.
I played BB several times, many beta testers did plus my sister and younger brother, but still so many bugs are left in... Minor part of them was reported, I just forgot to fix them... However, the major part of them wasn't even reported, ever... Nice big quest!
sasja:
That person in "Belladonna" is Belladonna, herself. I set 10 seconds time for stabbing her... just walk there, stab, make a step in some direction and that's all. It's a must-do thing. Only then can you go to Goron king again.

I'm about to go back and get level 4 lightforce and then see if I can't find level 5's as well. But my question is, should I have a stronger sword by now? I am still running around with the one from the church before the portal and I have 24 hearts now.
In the wooded area/chapel level, I had to face a screen of death knights with only a hammer and that same sword. But that was because I didn't hit the dragon guy at the right time.

I won't be able to play until tonight or tomorrow but for sure I want to find that key. I'd really like to get at least one of the side quests.

OK, this another reason to eliminate all blank warps.
jerome:
Man, you are getting close to the L4 sword, of course you can get the L3 sword now! In Kakarpolis, where once there was a sword, they sell info now. According to one of the info, you should look at the northwest of the main overworld. There make use of the fact that the shiny stones reflect magic. (In fact, you can't even get L4 sword without having L3 sword...)
So you have 24 hearts? Yes, it's expectable that very good players get this much by that point.
Also... you mentioned that Myra is getting Marylin Monroe later... What did you mean by that? I don't know much about Marylin Monroe besides that she was famous... I'm curious what is the relationship between them.

There's a very famous picture of Marylin Monroe where she is standing over a grate on a sidewalk when the fans kick on underneath. I was talking about how Myra was standing over one of the fan grates in the Darknut fortress area in the level there.
Also I'l have to go see if I can't find that sword!
