wrote some dialouge, had zquest freeze. had to write it again.

lamment about not understanding combo cycling because I don't want to look it up and read it. the cycle of when it is safe or not to walk on spikes, and the one with the dropping floor tiles, or the cycling tile when you can walk but need to wait.

and wonder why I wanted my LikeLike quest to have 9 dungons and not the original 5 or 6.

Yyyaaay I'm actually doing things in ZC. I'm importing a ton of graphics into this here quest which conveniently remains anonymous for no practical purpose whatsoever and eventually it'll be even more slightly awesome for various Let's Plays which have been inexplicably planned and/or announced!

I should also be a lot more perturbed at how you walk into a giant tent in a swamp and end up in a house.

I don't think there has ever been any game that displays the inside of a tent, now is there?

I think Earthbound does. That would be a good place to look for tiles.

Because I'm in Portugal for too long I decided to open up a new quest project, which is a miniquest which I aim to get done in like a month or so. The quest title is "Link's Quest for Portugal" because that's such an original title.

Really? From your experiences, I'd think you'd have a different title:

Link Goes To Hell: Stranded in Portugal!

Seriously, though. I hope that all works itself out soon. Good luck on your quest. :)

Link Goes To Hell: Stranded in Portugal!

Link Goes to Hell: Stranded in Cascais, Portugal*

But seriously, thanks, it's gonna be all sorted out very soon. Also, forgot to add on from before, the minimap of 'O Norte' is completed.

Link really needs to buy some Bananas but he can only purchase them from Portugal due to international banana trade restrictions and violent cartel movements.qst

Replace Bananas with "Pastel da Nata" and my life will be complete.

We really need a DLC Quest like quest. Link goes around having to collect Rupees to buy items needed to advance. Problem is something like that would be too linear.

I have thought about it, and I am now strongly considering making a remake of Adam's Quest in 2.50. It will be the same general game, although I will get rid of a lot of the stuff people hated in it, namely the "Touhou Rooms", boss spam, dungeons being nothing more than one long endurance marathon, etc. Again, I don't know if I'll follow through or not, but I am considering it.

Boss spam? What do you mean by that, exactly?

Boss spam? What do you mean by that, exactly?

Like I used bosses WAY too often. Like level 3. You have a Manhandla a room from the start, a Blue Gohma a couple screens up, a few screens to the right a Red Gohma, go up 4-5 more screens a pair of Aquamenti, etc. In other words, the boss count is just so high you'll get sick of seeing them by level 6. The later levels just get ridiculous having so many bosses it's nothing but a mandatory damage fest. Like, there are enemies I could use in level 8 other than a group of 4 Manhandlas and 3 Dodongos...

A lot of level 9 is also just a mad endurance of all of the elite enemies, such as Super Darknuts, Stalfos 3s, Bat/Mirror Wizzrobes, Cracktoroks, etc. Doesn't help a lot of the rooms have so many statues in them that you're just going to get knocked all over the place. I mean like a narrow path to a push block and then the door it opened. What's not the block or path is a statue and EVERY LAST ONE shoots at you. Yeah, have fun with that. Thankfully, Wind Wizzrobes are non-existent in level 9 and it features a lone Death Knight. Kind of strange I only used 3 of them the entire quest; one in level 8 that guards the Lens of Truth, one in an optional dungeon that awards the Master Sword and one in level 9 you have to fight for the Fire Boomerang.

Just watch my LP of it, BradX8's or TopKirby8305's to get a good idea of a lot of my bad design choices. Even I feel Adam's Quest didn't age very well and to be honest, I don't know if I'd rate it a 2/5 or 3/5. It's not "bad" but at the same time, it doesn't really qualify to me as being "good". Kind of like a meh or 2.5 rating...

I made a couple last-minute changes to my Enemy of the Month submissions (I made 2), altering the movement speed so they aren't disqualified. One of them was tested with a movement speed of 50, so it might be a bit too fast considering it's a scripted boss. Fortunately, the movement speed itself isn't scripted, so anybody downloading a version from the database once I submit a version after the contest can easily make any adjustments they want.

What I like about it is that it's really easy to use (place a base enemy down and an FFC on-screen), and can be customized so easily that you could easily make a full quest using only different variations of this boss. (For real mayhem, use a Wizzrobe as your base enemy.)

Submitted a new update to Link's Quest for Portugal. Also made quite a bit of custom tiles.

Well, I was busy for most of the day, but I wanted to be able to say I got something done. So, I opened my script for my custom boss I just made and tweaked it to make it more user-friendly instead of hard-coding everything.

I'm kind of considering checking the Reverse Patra script and seeing if I can use the way it works to add to my boss script any. I'd like to be able to allow customized defenses when vulnerable, and while I don't know how to do that myself, the Reverse Patra script does just that with the outer orbiting enemies. I should be able to borrow the couple lines of code that do that and add it to my boss script. Later, though. It's 3 AM right now where I am and I need sleep soon.
