Since the family Wii is connected to the television everybody uses for watching TV shows, I haven't gotten a chance to get much farther in Skyward Sword. (The third boss was rather disappointing compared to the first two.) My sister took her PSP back a few days ago, so I haven't gotten much farther in Dissidia or Guardian's Crusade since then, either. So, I've been pushing through on beating Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness.
I've gotten through everything up to the Tower of Execution, and I've got to say, this game is rather odd. I can see how people disliked the game on the original console, but if you emulate it and remap the controls to something that's actually practical, the game is actually very good, and very very fun. I'm still playing as Cornell, and he's horribly overpowered. His claw swipe attack is far too weak and has too poor of a range to use in any sort of combat, so it's reserved for mainly just hitting torches easily. However, his mid-range attack is extremely powerful once you pick up a couple Power-Ups, and has so much range to it that you can kill most enemies, and even a lot of bosses, before they even get close enough to hit you. I've never had to use any of the long-range item weapons, and I've only had to use his wolf form once, to speed up the process on the Tower of Science boss battle. I've even been avoiding using any of the contracts (item shops), but that's only because... (spoilers in case anybody hasn't played this game)
I've got to say, this is the only game where I would advise you stay far away from it if you own the actual console, but I have to recommend it greatly if you plan on emulating it. In fact, even if you already own the game and have played it before, I'd recommend playing it again on an emulator just so you can see how much the better controls improve the game.
I am curious, though. Is this game on the Wii's Virtual Console, and if it is, how do the controls work out through a Classic Controller?
