I spent the better part of yesterday and today reorganizing all of my item scripts into neat ffc scripts instead of having their effects in the global loop. After all this massive reorganization, I'm kind of shocked that everything's working. Still waiting for something to break ...

In the process, I also made it so items can be equipped to both the A and B button. It may not sound like such an accomplishment, until you realize I had several items that rapid fired when you held the A or B button that had to be converted so it would work with both. I also cleaned up some of the item scripts which were unnecessarily bloated. It's amazing how much I've learned in such a short time, that these old scripts look so obviously bad.

Overall, this was a huge undertaking, but everything is so much cleaner and more efficient as a result.

Trying to come up with new sprites for some enemies since it's been pointed out to me that palette swaps are not okay if I have like 6 enemies of that type. I already have one for the higher tier Goriyas and am working on one for Stalfos as well. Other than that, I found a Battle of Olympus sprite I really want to use, but I don't think I could make it look good with a 16x16 set of tiles when the sprite is for a side-scrolling game where it's 16x32 pixels tall. Also came up with a name for that place I started on this past weekend. What do you guys think of the overworld being named RedmageAdam.exe or RMAdam.exe? Obviously, in the title, the former would look like this due to the 10 character limit per line:

Redmage-

Adam.exe

My demo is almost complete! I just have some minor adjustments to make. It took me about 2.5 hours to 100% my demo.

That's a hard one actually, but I'd go for RedmageAdam.exe

As for me, I've just been making some overworld screens, nothing special really :P

I completed a whole village today, finished my subscreens, made it so you can interact with NPC's, and made it so when you pick up an item, a message is shown. I also started on my Intro Screen, but can't figure how to get Link out of there once the script is finished running... (And I don't want to use a timed warp!)

Seems interesting. But if you were to remake a game, why would you choose the exact same tileset it was originally made in?

You can just have the intro scene script warp Link after it does all its other stuff. Seeing these screens reminds me that I recreated the Trendy Game a while ago. Maybe I should polish it and submit it to the database.

I wanted to try and create the same feeling from Link's Awakening in ZC, so I stuck with the tileset. I'm planning on it being a sort of "redux" of the original game. I also want to see how difficult it is to re-create a GB game in ZC. I am having a slight issue though. When I fired up the quest editor, I got an Error that said this:

Loading Quest...

Decrypting...okay.

Opening...okay.

Reading Header...Error.

-Press a key-

Unable to load Link's Nightmare.qst

Invalid quest file.

Hmm ...  I'm not immediately sure what the problem is. You might want to post about it in ZQuest Editor Help so more people can see it.

I'm really sorry to tell you, but you've run into a header error. Basically a random, unpredictable bug that corrupts quests and renders them unworkable. You can try sending it to Saffith (the lead dev) to see if he can fix it, but your quest is probably broken beyond all repair, unless you have a backup (on that note, get in the habit of making frequent backups to prevent stuff like this).

Depending on your settings, Zquest might make automatic backups. Try looking for something with your quest title and the extension .qb0, .qb1 or something similar, then changing its extension to .qst and loading it in ZQuest. It might work.
