Oh damn, if only I had teachers like that XD

Well, my brother had a Maths teacher last year (who now left) who was obsessed with Zelda, even more than I was. Hell, she even tried to teach Maths with in-game images of Skyward Sword lmao. My History teacher from back in Year 9 also is into Zelda, but not so much and this Geography teacher (who now left as well) adored A Link to the Past. It's sad that Zelda is almost unknown in my school with the exception of very few friends and like one or two teachers. Almost everyone in my school are too obsessed with their Fifa and CoD.

Bumping since more news came in.

It seems like I just received a letter to go to graduation on the 10th July, which is actually close to the time I head out to Portugal again, and I think this also ties in with prom, which is going to be interesting since I've never actually been on an experience like this before so I'm looking forward to it. It's pretty amazing as to how close it is to the end of school and the start of college and it's also hard to believe that there's only about 2 months left in school before the GCSE exams begin.

I'm getting so sick of snow and the cold. I've had it up to here with it. Not to mention yesterday at work was about THE most boring day ever. From 2PM to 5PM, it was really slow; I only got carts up 3-4 times. Then from around 5:30PM to 7:45PM when I did my last cart run, there were literally only about 15 carts out with over a dozen small carts up front still. All I did from 6:10PM to almost quitting time was shoveling snow, which was a waste because within 5 minutes, what I shoveled was already covered again. Not to mention I spent an entire 1.5 hours doing this non-stop.

Got my 2nd round of practice exam results, and I gotta say, I think I performed much better than last time, but then again, the practice exams were a little different this time. Results below:

English - B

Maths - A

Chemistry 3 - A

History - A

Spanish Listening - A*

English and Spanish have been improved quite a bit. English went from an overall grade of D to a B, Spanish went from A to A*. History went down from an A* to A, but oh well. At least I didn't get any Ds this time round lol.

An A* is roughly the equivalent of an A+ across the pond here, right? If that's the case, I wouldn't be too worried about little fluctuations from A to A* and back again; at this point, it basically just shows that you've got a solid grasp on the material. Congrats on bringing English up two grades! Do you think you can pull it all the way up to an A, or is English just that one subject for you (we all have that one subject that we just... Ugh).

A* would be better than an A+ since A* is a completely separate grade, so it isn't equivalent. And yeah, I'm not TOO worried about History going from A* to A, mostly because I'm very confident I can do better and get A* again.

As for English, thanks :D I dunno about getting an A in English, since I still need a lot of work to achieve my full potential. But yeah, English is definitely that one subject that I tend to do badly in, especially English Literature. The thing that really kills me in English is the fact that I need to analyse every single detail and be as perceptive as I can, and quite honestly, I just can't stand things like that. I prefer subjects where there's usually one definite answer and doesn't involve analysing texts in extreme detail. I might be able to scrape an A in the final exam, but I'll see what I can do for now.

Also thought about posting my current grades for this quarter. I still have 3 weeks until my quarter grades are finalized and I hope I can keep them high until then but I really hope that I can improve AP U.S. History, which is my hardest class in my opinion. Anyway, here's a picture of my grades (and yes, I blurred out my teacher's names):

Tried my first Monster drink today. Don't really like it; it's just TOO strong, and that's coming from a guy that is used to drinking 4-6 cans of soda a day and is known to go through an entire gallon of iced tea during a Summer day. Not to mention it's much more caffeine than I'm used to. Hell, a 16oz serving of Mountain Dew is 72mg of caffeine, the Black Cherry Kickstarts I drink are 92mg for a 16oz can, and Monster is a whopping 160mg of it.

I started taking medication to help me deal with anxiety and other issues. I'm getting a bit concerned because ever since I shoveled snow at work today, my hearing is getting a bit distorted. Things sound a bit off and slightly deeper in pitch. I don't know if it's because of water getting in my ears, my medication or lack of sleep, but I feel the need to call the guy that prescribed these to me because I don't want to end up deaf or something.

Ouch, I hope everything goes well since that sounds pretty terrible :/

Either way, on a different note, today was pretty great for me. During assembly, a teacher brought up this thing called the "UK Maths Challenge" which is an exam that I took back in early February, and he was explaining the results of the exam. In my year group, me and 3 other kids took part, and I apparently got the highest score in the school from the exam. That's not all, since I also managed to get the highest score in London, which honestly blew me away. Either way, I'm pretty happy of myself to have accomplished something so difficult to achieve.

I was also given an award... which was a calculator, but hey I guess I can make use of this when I go to college.

Yeah I was pretty surprised about it too lol

I was honestly expecting not to do so well since most of the questions asked are like REALLY tough maths problems. But then again, I had some sort of strategy to get through the exam. Questions 1-15 give 5 marks for every correct answer but take 0 marks if you got any wrong. From 16-25, you get 6 marks for every answer correct, but 1 or 2 marks will be taken away if you got a question wrong. So what I did is that I answered all questions from 1-15 and then only attempted one from 16-25 (as I was 100% certain I got the correct answer), to get the result I got. I assume others just winged the whole exam which isn't recommended at all for this challenge.

Orly? You won a math award for smartest kid in a town?

I got a reward for being the most poetic kid in the province of ontario just 1 month ago.

But seriously, good job! It's too bad that they try to rip you off for winning (the above gave me 20$... when I got 30$ for winning in all of the kingston area), but still, smartest kid in town! It's a great achievement to have...

Damnit! I made myself jealous!

Edit: Here is the Poem I wrote to win:

We all Remember
Month of November
Buried Together
Lives lost forever

Bodies Wasted
Allies Basted
Marriage Pasted
Death was Tasted

Mothers Cried
Children Died
Allies Tried
Enemies Lied

Cannons Booming
Death Was Looming
Warfields Glooming
Skies were Fuming

Enemies Fleeting
Peacekeepers meeting
Allies Defeating
Axis Retreating

After September
Before December
We all Remember
Month of November

It took them 3-4 months to decide I was the winner.

And now, I halt shuteth up, foreth I hath blowen you aways with my poetism ^.^

In a city of 8 million people actually :P

Either way, that's a pretty neat poem. I could never come up with stuff like that since when it comes to creative writing, I'm just terrible at it. Analysing texts are even worse lol.
